2 Chainz Bio, Life, and Career:

2 Chainz, whose real name is Tauheed K. Epps and who was formerly known as Tity Boi, is a popular rap artist from the United States. He was born on September 12, 1977. His hometown is College Park, Georgia, and he received his early training there. He first rose to prominence as a member of the Southern hip-hop duo Playaz Circle, which he formed with his lifelong friend and fellow rapper Earl “Dolla Boy” Conyers.

The pair is most known for their debut single “Duffle Bag Boy” (which featured Lil Wayne) in 2007, which was released on the Disturbing the Peace label owned by Georgia-based rapper Ludacris. Epps secured a solo album deal with Def Jam Recordings, an imprint of Universal Music Group, in February 2012. On August 14, 2012, he released his debut studio album titled Based on a T.R.U. The story was met with commercial success despite receiving mixed reviews at the time of its release.

The album gave birth to three popular singles: “No Lie” (featuring Drake), “Birthday Song” (containing Kanye West), and “I’m Different.” All three of these singles ranked in the top 50 of the Billboard Hot 100 and were certified Gold or higher by the RIAA, in addition to the album itself being certified Gold. “No Lie” featured Drake. “Birthday Song” included Kanye West. His second studio album, titled B.O.A.T.S. II: Me Time, was released on September 11, 2013, and the lead single, titled “Feds Watching” (with Pharrell Williams), was released to support the album.

After leaving Def Jam in 2022, Epps would go on to release the albums ColleGrove (2016), Pretty Girls Like Trap Music (2017), Rap or Go to the League (2019), So Help Me God! (2020), and Dope Don’t Sell Itself (2022).In College Park, Georgia, 2 Chainz was first known as Tauheed Epps.

He went to North Clayton High School, where he was a member of the basketball team and ended up graduating second in his class. While he was still in high school, he worked as a dealer of marijuana, and when he was 15 years old, he was arrested for the felony possession of cocaine. After that, he went on to receive a scholarship to attend Alabama State University, where he participated in the basketball program from 1995 to 1997.

When contacted by Rolling Stone about persistent allegations that he had graduated from Alabama State with a 4.0 GPA, which had been widely reported on various sources including Wikipedia, 2 Chainz responded with the following: “Don’t believe anything on Wikipedia. There’s a lot of misleading information out there, to the point where whenever I try to correct one thing, something new pops out. ”

In point of fact, he changed his enrollment at the University of Virginia to that of Virginia State University owing to reasons that he does not wish to discuss. “I found myself in some problems, so I went somewhere else, and then I came back. But I made it through school, and that’s that. “And that was back then,” he explained.

In 1997, Epps and his high school friend Earl Conyers (known as Dolla Boy) formed the hip-hop duo Playaz Circle in College Park, Georgia.  The word “Playaz” is a backronym for “Preparing Legal Assets for Years from A to Z.” Epps went under the moniker “Tity Boi” during the group’s early years.

Playaz Circle released its debut album in 1998. After the release of an independent album in 2002 named United We Stand, United We Fall, the pair were introduced to fellow Atlanta rapper Ludacris when he moved into their College Park apartment complex while he was working as a DJ.  The album had been titled United We Stand, United We Fall. After taking an interest in Playaz Circle, Ludacris started recording a number of songs with the band, and he played some of those songs on the radio station that he owned.

Soon after his debut, Ludacris established himself as one of the most popular rap artists in the southern region of the United States. After learning about their predicament, Ludacris approached Epps with a request to have the pair sign with his recently established record label, Disturbing Tha Peace, which is a sublabel of Def Jam Recordings. Although Epps was willing to sign, Conyers did not formally become a member of the label until after one year had passed since the initial signing. This was contingent on his mother’s recovery from her illness.
