Alaska Thunderfuck Bio, Life, and Career:

Alaska Thunderfuck is the stage name of American recording artist and drags queen Alaska Thunderfuck 5000, whose real name is Justin Andrew Howard. Howard was born on March 6, 1985, and is from Erie, Pennsylvania. She is best known simply as Alaska.  She rose to prominence after finishing in second place on the fifth season of RuPaul’s Drag Race, and she has also crowned the victor of the second season of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars.  Corey Binney, Howard’s brother, is one of the hosts of the web series Bro’Laska, which Howard also helps to present. Her debut studio album, titled Anus, was released in the year 2015, and she went on to release her second album, titled Poundcake, in the year 2016, and her third album, titled Vagina, in the year 2019. 2022 saw the release of her fourth studio album, titled Red 4 Filth.

As well as being a co-host on the podcast Race Chaser together with Willam, Howard is also a member of the drag group The AAA Girls, which also includes Courtney Act. Alaska Thunderfuck participated in the fifth season of RuPaul’s Drag Race under the name Alaska, but she is better known by her stage name.  Earlier in her career, she had tried out for each and every season of the show.  Alaska was victorious in both the major task for the episode titled “Scent of a Drag Queen,” which was based on a fragrance commercial and the main competition for the episode titled “Sugar Ball.”

Alaska participated in the show by singing the song “Can I Get an Amen?”, which was inspired by the song “We Are the World.” The earnings from the song went to the Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Center, which is a good cause. At the conclusion of the competition in May 2013, Alaska and another contender named Roxxxy Andrews were both awarded the position of runner-up. Jinkx Monsoon became victorious at the end of the campaign. In the production of The Rocky Horror Show put on by Woodlawn Theatre in San Antonio, Texas, in the month of October 2013, Alaska gave a performance as Dr. Frank N. Furter. In addition, Michelle Visage, a judge on RuPaul’s Drag Race, and Willam Belli, a participant in season four of the show, both had roles in the musical.

Alaska has been performing and touring ever since she was a contestant on RuPaul’s Drag Race. She has been a part of RuPaul’s Drag Race Battle of the Seasons shows, the Drag Stars at Sea cruises, and several one-woman shows including a Stevie Nicks tribute called “Stevie Forever,” a cabaret show called “Red for Filth,” and a holiday show called “Blue Christmas.”The mobile app for RuPaul’s Drag Race called “RuPaul’s Drag Race: Dragopolis 2.0” featured an animated representation of Alaska. She had a starring role in a stage version of “Sex and the City” that ran over the summer of 2014. Bro’Laska is the name of a web series that Howard has created in collaboration with his brother Cory Binney and is sponsored by World of Wonder.  In 2014, Alaska joined Willam Belli and Courtney Act as one of the spokesmodels for American Apparel.

Since then, Alaska has issued a number of singles, the most notable of which are “Ru Girl,” “Your Makeup Is Terrible,” and “Nails.” Anus, the debut album of Alaska, was released in June 2015 and was met with a favorable reception. The songs “Hieeee” and “This Is My Hair” were released as singles taken from the album. Alaska made her way back to the Drag Race competition in 2016 for the second season of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars.  She was in the bottom three for the makeover challenge despite winning four challenges (the Snatch game, acting, stand-up, and advertisement). She was subjected to criticism for some of the eliminations she selected, as well as for the way she conducted herself in the latter stages of the competition.

In response, Alaska made an online video apology and a donation in the amount of $5,000 to the nonprofit organization Trans Kids Purple Rainbow. She was declared the second winner of All-Stars during the last episode of the season. Poundcake was the name of Alaska’s second studio album, which was released the same year.  The songs “The T,” “Stun,” and “Puppet” are the three singles that have been taken from the album and released individually. The name of the album is a reference to the “RuPaul’s Drag Race” puppet competition, in which Alaska and one of the other contestants, Lineysha Sparx, were tasked with creating a defiant puppet entitled “Lil’ Poundcake.”

In the very first season of VH1’s Scared Famous, which debuted on October 23, 2017, Alaska was one of the contestants, and she finished in sixth place overall in the competition. Alongside her fellow alumna from RuPaul’s Drag Race, Willam Belli, she has been hosting a podcast since July 2018. “Race Chaser” is a podcast that, according to its description, “is dedicated to the discussion and analysis of every episode of Rupaul’s Drag Race.”In August of 2018, Alaska Mikush and Jeremy Mikush, singing together under the name Alaska and Jeremy, released their debut studio album titled Amethyst Journey.

2019 saw the release of Alaska’s third studio album, which she titled Vagina. Shortly after that, she established The Drag Queen of the Year Pageant Competition Award Contest Competition and presented it at the Montalban Theater in Hollywood. The event had a total of eight distinct drag performers competing against one another for the title of queen. The victor in the end, as determined by Alaska and a panel of judges that included Peppermint, Sharon Needles, Willam, and Abhora, who had previously competed in season two of The Boulet Brothers’ Dragula.  In June 2019, a group of judges from New York magazine ranked her in the seventh spot on their list of “the most powerful drag queens in America.” The list is a ranking of 100 people who have competed on RuPaul’s Drag Race in the past.
