Alex Turner Bio, Life, and Career:
Alexander David Turner is a British singer, songwriter, and record producer. He was born on January 6, 1986, in England. It is mostly due to his role as the lead vocalist and primary songwriter for the rock band Arctic Monkeys, with whom he has collaborated on the production of seven studio albums. In addition, he has released music under his own name as well as under the name of the Last Shadow Puppets, a side project that also features Miles Kane. Arctic Monkeys were established in their hometown of Sheffield when Turner was just 17 years old, together with three other mates.
Their first studio album, titled Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not (2006), broke the record for the most rapid sales of any debut album in British history. It was also ranked at number 30 on Rolling Stone’s list of the greatest debut albums of all time, and the single “I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor” became a number-one hit in the United Kingdom.
Favourite Worst Nightmare was released in 2007, Humbug was released in 2009, Suck It and See was released in 2011, AM was released in 2013, Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino was released in 2018, and The Car will be released in 2022. The band’s subsequent studio albums have dabbled in desert rock, indie pop, R&B, and lounge music. Arctic Monkeys were the headlining act at the Glastonbury Festival in 2007 and 2013, as well as the Reading and Leeds Festivals in 2014 and 2022. Also, they provided entertainment at the opening ceremony of the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.
Turner and Miles Kane, who are also the co-frontmen of The Last Shadow Puppets, have released two albums of orchestral pop music under the moniker The Last Shadow Puppets: The Age of the Understatement (2008) and Everything You’ve Come to Expect (2010). (2016). In addition, Turner composed an acoustic score for the feature film “Submarine,” which was released in 2010, and he also co-wrote and co-produced the first album “Belladonna of Sorrow” by Alexandra Savior (2017).
Turner’s songwriting, which includes everything from “kitchen sink reality” to “surrealist wordplay,” has garnered a lot of praise from both the public and those working in the music industry. He has released nine studio albums, eight of which have reached number one on the UK Albums Chart. Seven Brit Awards, an Ivor Novello Award, and the Mercury Prize are among his many accolades (he has been nominated six times). Alexander David Turner was the only child of Penny (née Druce), who also worked as a teacher, and David Turner, who also worked in secondary education. Alexander was born in Sheffield on January 6, 1986.
He spent his childhood in the High Green neighborhood of Sheffield. He has stated that his parents came from “quite different backgrounds.” His mother, who was born and raised in Amersham, Buckinghamshire was a language teacher and was “fascinated by language.” His father, who was born and raised in Sheffield was a professor of music and physics. Both of Turner’s parents were enthusiastic music listeners, and some of his earliest memories of music involve the Beach Boys and the Beatles.
While traveling in the automobile, his mother would play music by artists such as Led Zeppelin, David Bowie, and the Eagles. His father was a major admirer of jazz and swing music, especially Frank Sinatra, and he had played the saxophone, trumpet, and piano in big bands in the past. His mother was a fan of country music. Turner’s own father instructed him in some scales to play on the family keyboard and he continued to take professional piano lessons up until he was eight years old.
Turner and his next-door neighbor Matt Helders grew up together starting when Turner was five years old; they went to the same kindergarten, elementary school, and high school as well as the same college. During the graduation ceremony for their elementary school, Turner and Helders joined some other friends in a mimed performance of Oasis’ “Morning Glory.” Helders played the role of Liam Gallagher, and Turner pretended to play the bass guitar while using a tennis racket as his instrument. Other friends also participated in the performance. The two of them met Andy Nicholson when they were in secondary school, and the three of them became close friends because of their mutual appreciation for rap artists such as Dr. Dre, the Wu-Tang Clan, Outkast, and Roots Manuva.
