Alexandra Shipp Bio, Life, and Career:
Alexandra Ruth Shipp is an American actress and singer who came to attention for her portrayal of artist Aaliyah in the film Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B (2014), which aired on Lifetime television, and Kimberly Woodruff in the film Straight Outta Compton (2015), which was nominated for an Academy Award.
She is well recognized for her role as Storm in the X-Men film series, which began with X-Men: Apocalypse. Other notable roles include those of Abby Suso in the romance comedy Love, Simon (2018) and Susan Wilson in the musical drama Tick, tick… BOOM!. Phoenix, Arizona is where Shipp began his life. Both of her parents are talented musicians; her mother teaches Kundalini yoga, while her father plays the guitar. Her father is of African descent, while her mother is of European descent.
She is related to James and Jordan, who are her brothers, and she also has a stepsister named Kasia. Shipp received his education in Phoenix at Squaw Peak Elementary School, Arizona School for the Arts, and St. Mary’s Catholic High School, all of which are private institutions. At the age of 17, she made the trip to Los Angeles in order to pursue a career in acting. In the year 2014, Shipp rose to prominence for her performances as Dani Raymond in the television film sequel Drumline: A New Beat, which aired on VH1, and Aaliyah Haughton, the main character, in the television film Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B, which aired on Lifetime. During the second performance, Shipp also sang vocals. Next, she appeared in the historical drama film Straight Outta Compton as Ice Cube’s wife, Kimberly Woodruff.
The film recounted the lives of the hip-hop group N.W.A. She played Ororo Munroe/Storm, a mutant with the ability to control the weather, in the superhero movie X-Men: Apocalypse, which was directed by Bryan Singer and released in 2016. Halle Berry had previously played the role. In 2018, she appeared in the high school comedy flicks Love, Simon, and Dude, both of which were directed by Greg Mottola and starring Nick Robinson, Jorge Lendeborg Jr., Kathryn Prescott, and Lucy Hale.
