Her parents introduced her to a wide variety of musical styles, from country to Slipknot, and everything in between. She recalls that she first became interested in music, more specifically rap music when she listened to Arular by M.I.A. when she was 10 years old.
She did not start listening to male musicians until she was 16 years old. She did not listen to female musicians until she was 18 years old. When she was a teenager, her family relocated to Estonia in order for her father to further his education. They remained in Estonia for one year before moving once more, this time to Riga, Latvia. At one point in time, she was the only student from the United States living in Latvia who was enrolled in a public high school there. When Casey was 18 years old, she uprooted her life and moved all by herself to London.
The first song released by Ashnikko was titled “Krokodil,” and it was produced by Raf Riley. “Krokodil” was uploaded to SoundCloud in July of 2016. In addition, “Stupid” was awarded gold certification in Canada and the United States in the month of August 2020. Another track on the EP called “Working Bitch” became famous on TikTok and was one of its most-played songs.
