Bbno$ Bio, Life, and Career:
Alexander Leon Gumuchian, better known by his stage name bbno$ (pronounced “baby no money”; born June 30, 1995), is a rapper, singer, and songwriter from Canada. As well as his work with the rapper Yung Gravy, he is most known for the tune “Lalala” which he released in 2019 in cooperation with the producer Y2K. This song has had more than 900 million plays on the music streaming service Spotify.
Gumuchian was born into an Armenian family in the city of Vancouver, in the Canadian province of British Columbia. Before starting high school, he completed his education at home. When he was younger, his mother pushed him to take up piano lessons, but he’d always had a hard time understanding how music theory worked. Gumuchian asserts that he was skilled with rhythm and that he enjoyed playing the djembe, but he did not begin listening to music for the sake of enjoyment until he was 15 years old.
After suffering a back injury that prohibited him from pursuing his dream of becoming a professional swimmer, Gumuchian decided to pursue a career in the music industry instead. In 2014, while he was playing on GarageBand with a group of pals, he discovered his love for rapping as well as the production of music. In the beginning, Gumuchian and his group of pals, who would eventually call themselves Broke Boy Gang, would simply make music for the sake of entertainment.
The band disbanded after publishing many tunes online and playing live together for about five to six months prior to the breakup. In September 2016, he started publishing tracks on SoundCloud under the name “binomial,” where he swiftly earned millions of listens and fans. He first acquired notoriety in China, where he was able to perform “back-to-back” headlining tours and sell out every show. He attributed his success in other countries to the Chinese dance team TFBoys. This was after one of the group’s members, Jackson Yee, performed a dance to the song “Yoyo Tokyo” at the birthday celebration he was throwing for himself.
bbno$ published his first extended play (EP), titled Baby Gravy, in cooperation with Yung Gravy in 2017. This came not long before the release of his debut studio album, titled Bb Steps, as well as his second collaborative EP, titled Whatever, with So Loki in 2018. Recess, bbno$’s second studio album, was released around the end of 2019 and features guest appearances by Y2K and Trippy Tha Kid. The album takes its name and creative cues from a Disney television series of the same name.
A number of songs from the album Recess have amassed millions of streams on Spotify. bbno$ and Y2K have gained recognition for successfully promoting their single “Lalala” online by utilizing a number of different websites and online apps. In particular, they promoted their single by using Tinder, Instagram, TikTok, and Craigslist. The song reached the top spot on more than 20 different charts around the world, and it has been streamed more than 400 million times and has sold 500,000 copies in the United States.
I Don’t Care at All would become bbno$’ second album release of 2019, coming out later in the year. There were several pre-released singles for the album, including “Slop,” “Pouch,” and “Shinning on My Ex.” The latter of these singles included Yung Gravy, who is a frequent collaborator for the artist. Y2K was the only producer involved in the making of the album. Baby Gravy 2, which was produced by Yung Gravy in partnership, was made available to the public on February 14, 2020. It is a follow-up to the EP Baby Gravy, which was released in 2017.
The music video for his track “Imma” sees bbno$ performing as a drag queen and touring Victoria with another drag performer named Jimbo. The song “Help Herself” was made available to the public on January 29, 2021. The song was the first single to be released from a new bbno$ project. Diamond Pistols was the producer of the song. Later on in the year, on May 14, 2021, a five-track extended play (EP) titled “My Oh My” was made available for purchase. Before the publication of the EP, single versions of three of the five tracks, namely “Help Herself,” “Bad to the Bone,” and “Help Herself” (featuring Benee), were made available to the public.
The song “Edamame” featuring Rich Brian was made available for purchase on July 24, 2021. This track was released as the debut single off the mixtape titled Eat Ya Veggies by bbno$. Soon after the release of “Edamame,” bbno$ began dropping hints on Twitter about a new album they were working on. After that, on September 22, 2021, bbno$ discharged the second single from the undertaking, it was referred to as “I Remember.” Eat Ya Veggies was initially distributed by bbno$ on October 8, 2021. The update for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive that was released on October 7, 2021, featured the song “u mad!” which is the sixth track on the album.
On April 8, 2022, he presented the world with his first brand-new single of the year, which was titled “Mathematics.” The song debuted in March 2022 throughout his gigs in Europe, and a preview of the music video was shown during a hockey game involving the Vancouver Canucks on April 4. Additionally, the first live performances of “Piccolo” took place in March 2022 in Europe and May 2022 in Canada, respectively. Because one of the lyrics in the chorus goes “Dragon Ball Z dick, blow me like a piccolo,” the song is also known by its alternative title, “Dragon Ball Z.” On May 18, two days before the song was officially published, a preview of it was posted on bbno$’s TikTok account.
His single “Pogo” was issued on June 24, 2022, and Diplo was the one who produced it. On social media, a variety of samples were released as teasers, and in April, the title of the song was revealed during a live stream on Twitch. Bag or Die is the studio album that bbno$ published as their most recent offering on October 21, 2022. It features the singles “Mathematics,” “Piccolo,” and “Sophisticated,” in addition to a collaboration with Yung Gravy titled “touch grass.”
