Brian Brushwood Bio, Life and Career:

Brian Allen Brushwood was born on January 17, 1975. Brushwood is well known for his YouTube channel. Brushwood is well-known for his series Scam Nation (which was once known as Scam School), a show in which he instructs the audience in fun tactics at bars so that they can “scam” a free drink for themselves. The show also asserts that it is the only show of its kind that focuses on social engineering in public places like bars and streets. Brushwood also co-hosts the podcasts Weird Things with Andrew Mayne and Justin Robert Young, Cordkillers with Tom Merritt, and Night Attack with Young, in addition to Scam Nation, which is his primary project.

In addition to that, Brushwood was a frequent participant on the podcast This Week in Tech. Brushwood is a stage performer that tours the United States with his Bizarre Magic stage performance. He is also the author of six books. Alongside Jason Murphy, Brushwood is also the co-host of a YouTube show that goes by the name The Modern Rogue. Brushwood was born in Fountain Valley, which is located in the state of California. On one Christmas Day when Brushwood was still a child, he was given a magic kit as a present. Brushwood rekindled his passion for magic while he was a student at the University of Texas at Austin. He performed his first paid shows by stepping in for another magician whose calendar was too full. Eventually, Brushwood went on to open his own magic show.  Brushwood’s fascination with the art of illusion prompted him to present a magic display lasting forty-five minutes as his senior thesis.

Brushwood was first exposed to the concept of scientific scepticism when he was enrolled in Rory Coker’s pseudoscience class as an undergraduate student. Brushwood was advised by Coker for his senior thesis, and now Coker has asked Brushwood to come back as an alumnus to assist him in demonstrating various ideas in his class. 1997 was the year that Brushwood completed the University of Texas at Austin’s Plan II honours programme and graduated with a degree. After graduating from college, Brushwood wed his wife Bonnie and started working as a game tester for Rockwell Semiconductors.

He then went on to pursue a career at Dell, where he was responsible for the design of high-end computer systems. While working at Dell, Brushwood supplemented his income by performing magic on Wednesday nights at The Electric Lounge in Austin, Texas. This was done while The Asylum Street Spankers were on break. In the year 1999, Brushwood was given the opportunity to receive a pay increase at Dell. However, he soon realised that he was not pursuing his true love, so he made the decision to leave his job at Dell and begin focusing all of his energy on his Bizarre Magic performance instead.

After an agreement to broadcast on television fell through, Brushwood made the decision to investigate the possibility of broadcasting his show over the internet, where he would have greater control over both the product and the process. Brushwood came up with the concept for Scam School after having already filmed numerous episodes of his show Brian Brushwood: On the Road. Initially, he planned to produce it on his own, but he eventually ended up selling the idea to Revision 3, and the first episode debuted on April 6, 2008, on Revision 3’s website.

Due to the fact that Revision 3 is situated in San Francisco, it was necessary for Brushwood to fly to California in order to film episodes of Scam School there, typically a dozen at a time due to the high cost of travel. Richard Garriott, who was considered to be one of Brushwood’s childhood heroes, performed a magic performance in October 2008 when he was aboard the International Space Station that he had learnt from Scam School.  Brushwood took advantage of the opportunity presented by the acquisition of Revision 3 by Discovery Digital Networks in order to relocate the production of Scam School from the San Francisco Bay Area to Austin, Texas, where he presently resides with his wife and three children. Brushwood is the creator of the show.
