Bruce Prichard Bio, Life, and Career:

Bruce Prichard is an American professional wrestling executive, booker, and producer. He was also a manager, a commentator, and an occasional professional wrestler in the past. Prichard was born on March 7, 1963. Prichard has appeared as an on-screen character under the ring name Brother Love, in addition to his corporate roles with WWE. Prichard’s ring name is Brother Love. Prichard, better known by his ring name of Brother Love, served as the original manager of The Undertaker and also hosted a talk show segment under that name. Prichard’s professional wrestling resume also includes stints with Houston Wrestling, the Global Wrestling Federation, Total Nonstop Action Wrestling, and Major League Wrestling.

Something to Wrestle with Bruce Prichard is a podcast that Prichard has been co-hosting with Conrad Thompson ever since it was first released in 2016. In 1973, Prichard began his professional wrestling career by taking a job with Paul Boesch’s Houston Wrestling promotion, which was based in Houston, Texas. Even though he was only 10 years old, he was very successful in selling posters at the Sam Houston Coliseum. Even at that young age, he was already working in the television industry. At the age of 14, he began his career as a ring announcer.

Prichard would also perform the role of ring announcer for some Universal Wrestling Federation shows in the 1980s as a result of Boesch’s working relationship with Bill Watts’ Universal Wrestling Federation. Prichard was hired by the World Wrestling Federation in the year 1987, the same year that Houston Wrestling ceased operations. After joining the World Wrestling Federation in 1987, not long after WrestleMania III, he first worked as an announcer for the WWF’s television programs alongside Mike McGuirk and “The Duke of Dorchester” Pete Doherty, and he also occasionally worked alongside Bobby “The Brain” Heenan.

Before creating Brother Love’s character, he did this for a while before going on to create the character of Brother Love. Prichard eventually joined the Dallas-based Global Wrestling Federation, where he worked as a manager and ringside interviewer between 1991 and 1992, using his real name. After being released from the WWF, Prichard moved back to his home state of Texas, where he eventually joined the organization. He started off as a babyface color commentator, but he eventually turned heel right in the middle of calling an ESPN televised match with GWF play-by-play announcer Craig Johnson.

He was Barry Horowitz’s manager in the GWF, and he earned the nickname “The Winner” for his client. Horowitz and Prichard engaged in a feud with Chaz Taylor, who was the champion of the GWF Light Heavyweight division. Prichard referred to Taylor in a condescending manner, saying, “He may be a lightweight but he’s no champion!” Both Horowitz and Prichard left the GWF after they were unsuccessful in their attempts to win the title from Taylor. Prichard made his comeback to the WWF in August 1992 and portrayed two characters who didn’t stick around for long.

He made his first appearance on All-American Wrestling as “The Wizard,” a heel color commentator (during the character’s brief run, he was never seen on camera), and then he appeared as “Reo Rodgers,” a satire on Dusty Rhodes. During his brief time on the show, Rodgers provided commentary on occasion. However, his interview segment, “Reo’s Roundup,” was canceled after only two episodes, and the character was subsequently retired. Following this, he remained in the background, working as Vince McMahon’s “right-hand man” and also contributing as a writer to various WWE shows.

Nevertheless, Prichard has occasionally returned to his Brother Love character in the past. In November of 1995, Brother Love made his way back to the WWF. Once again serving as host of the Brother Love Show, this time on Monday Night Raw, he did so. Brother Love served as the host during Ted DiBiase’s introduction of The Ringmaster to the World Wrestling Federation. This event would go on to become a watershed moment in the history of the WWF. Stone Cold Steve Austin would emerge from his reincarnation as the Ringmaster in due time. Soon after that, Brother Love was no longer to be found anywhere associated with the WWF.

In the first episode of Shotgun Saturday Night, which aired in January 1997, Brother Love made an unexpected appearance and assisted the Flying Nuns in their victory over The Godwinns. This was Brother Love’s only public appearance since his previous one in January 1997. After that, Love decided to call the group The Sisters of Love.

The team quickly abandoned their gimmick, and they went on to achieve success under their new name, The Headbangers. Brother of Tom Prichard, a professional wrestler, and Chris Prichard, a guitarist, Bruce Prichard is also a member of the Prichard family. Jerry and Ken are Bruce’s additional brothers. Bruce has two other brothers. Ken died in February 2022. He is the father of two children, a daughter named Amber and a son named Kane after the professional wrestler. Prichard had two separate heart attacks in the year 2012.
