Bryan Alvarez Bio, Life, and Career:

Bryan Alvarez is a well-known American professional wrestler, martial artist, satellite radio broadcaster, podcaster, and journalist. He was born on June 12, 1975, in the United States. Figure Four Weekly is a publication that has been covering professional wrestling since 1995, and Alvarez is both the editor and publisher of the publication. Alvarez, who was born in Bothell, Washington, received his initial instruction from Buddy Wayne. Later in life, Alvarez went on to become a trainer himself and worked with former All Elite Wrestling star Jack Evans. Alvarez has previously held the title of ICW-ICWA Texarkana Television Champion in the sport of wrestling. Alvarez is a first-degree black belt in Gracie Jiu-Jitsu under Pedro Sauer and Pedro Sauer’s black belt Justin Angelos.

Evergreen Karate and Jiu-Jitsu in Bothell, Washington is home to an adult Gracie Jiu-Jitsu program, and he is now serving as the program’s head instructor. He also holds a green belt in Shudokan Karate. Backyard wrestling competitions hosted by Alvarez and his friends, under the name Youth Wrestling Foundation, were broadcast on Seattle’s Public Access Channel during the years 1993 and 1995. Years later, Alvarez began his career in the wrestling industry by working as a referee for local independent shows. This eventually led to his return to the sport of wrestling, as he was asked to fill in for another wrestler at an event who did not show up.

After that, Alvarez began competing in bouts more frequently, first without charge. Wrestling for a variety of local independent promotions in the Pacific Northwest has taken up the majority of Alvarez’s professional wrestling career. In 2003, he competed in the inaugural bout of the brief television relaunch of Portland Wrestling, but he was defeated by The Grappler. He was joined by a blonde valet who went by the name Miss Rent-to-Own (Auto), which was a reference to one of the companies that sponsored the television show.

During a fundraiser that was held, Alvarez made a promise that, if the amount raised reached $400, he would wrestle one last time with his good buddy and fellow retired professional wrestler Vince Verhei. He also mentioned that a unique DVD would be given to everybody who contributed at least $25 to the cause. Donations ranged from one cent to $250, and the scheduled match was posted on YouTube on September 17, 2006. The amount was exceeded, and in fact, exceeded $3000, and the scheduled match was posted on September 17, 2006. The DVD was made available to the public on December 8th, 2006. After a decisive victory over Alvarez in the mid-1990s, Verhei was awarded the YWF Title, the most prestigious belt in Alvarez’s initial backyard wrestling company.

Alvarez and Larry Sweeney fought on March 17, 2007, for Alvarez to compete in Sweeney’s ICW-ICWA Texarkana Television Championship. The match ended in a no-contest. Due to the fact that both men had their shoulders pinned, the referee was unable to make a decision regarding who the victor was. Alvarez completed a German suplex. Once Sweeney made it clear that he was willing to “pay $7,500” to Alvarez, Alvarez accepted the challenge that Sweeney issued in Figure Four Daily. The championship bout was one of the main events on the very first Fight Sports Midwest card, which took place in Portage, Indiana. The promotional videos for Sweeney and Alvarez can be found on YouTube.

The rematch between Alvarez and Larry Sweeney, which was scheduled to take place on June 13, 2007, in Portage, Indiana, was called off after Alvarez made the announcement. According to Alvarez, the rematch is scheduled to take place at some point in 2007. Alvarez also asserted that after defeating Sweeney for his Texarkana Television Championship, he intended to rename it the Frank A. Gotch Memorial Collar & Elbow Pacific Coast Championship. He said this would happen when he won the title from Sweeney.

On September 27, 2007, Fight Sports Midwest made the announcement that the rematch between Alvarez and Sweeney will take place at the CHIKARA show that would take place on November 18, 2007, at the location that housed ECW Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Announcers Kenny Bolin and Timmy Baltimore brought up Alvarez’s positive evaluations of the Derby City Wrestling television show while holding up a copy of the newsletter. Alvarez had previously written positive reviews of the show for Figure Four Weekly.

After that, DCW wrestler Ted “The Trailer” McNaler approached the announcers’ table and complained that Alvarez denigrated McNaler’s appearance and brains. McNair called Alvarez a “trailer.” After that, he continued to issue a fight challenge to Alvarez, adamantly stating that he possessed an athletic physique. In subsequent weeks, he continued the challenges, insulting Verhei and Alvarez’s “Granny” (who is actually Alvarez’s actual grandmother and an occasional guest on The Bryan and Vinny Show). He was also shown humorously attempting to raise money to bring “Chico” to Louisville, Kentucky, which is where DCW is filmed.
