Calvin Harris Bio, Life, and Career:

Adam Richard Wiles, better known as Calvin Harris, was born on January 17, 1984, in Dumfries, Scotland, to biochemist David Wiles and his wife Pamela. Adam was the third of the Wiles’ three children and the youngest boy.
He attended ‘Dumfries High School’ during his childhood in Dumfries, where he also spent his formative years alongside his elder siblings, Edward and Sophie. The following year, in 1999, he started recording bedroom demos after developing an interest in electronic music while he was a teenager.

After that, in 2002, he released two songs through the Prima Facie label under his own name. After a brief stay in London, during which he saw little success, he relocated back to Dumfries, where he made solo recordings at his house and uploaded them to his MySpace profile. Over time, he amassed a following on Myspace and talent booker Mark Gillespie took notice of him. Gillespie eventually signed Harris to a contract with the firm that Harris had recently established on his own. Adam Richard Wiles, better known by his stage name Calvin Harris, is a Scottish singer, songwriter, DJ, and record producer.

He is currently regarded as one of the most successful performers in contemporary British popular culture. Richard Wiles was born and raised in Scotland. During his teenage years, he developed an interest in electronic music and began recording bedroom demos, which marked the beginning of his career as a musician. Beginning with his first studio album, titled “I Created Disco,” which debuted at number eight on the UK Albums Chart, he was successful in creating magic with music in the years that followed, releasing a number of hit albums and singles that topped the charts.

His second studio album, titled “Ready for the Weekend,” was the one that topped the UK Albums Chart, and the first single from that album, titled “I’m Not Alone,” was the one that gave him his first victory atop the “UK Singles Chart.” The release of his third studio album, titled “18 Months,” catapulted him into the spotlight on a global scale. It not only topped a number of international charts, but it also debuted at position 19 on the US Billboard 200 chart, making it the first album of its kind to generate nine top 10 singles and breaking Michael Jackson’s record in the process.

The song “We Found Love,” which was written and performed in collaboration with Rihanna, was one of the eight singles from the album to reach the top 10 of the UK Singles Chart. In 2006, he signed contracts with “Sony BMG,” “EMI,” and “Three Six Zero Group,” all of which are music recording companies. Later on in that year, he produced a remix of the hit “Rock Steady,” which had previously been performed by the English-Canadian girl group “All Saints.” Columbia Records was responsible for the publication of his debut studio album, titled “I Created Disco,” on June 15, 2007.

He is solely responsible for the composition, production, and performance of all 14 tracks. It made its debut at position #8 on the UK Albums Chart and quickly rose to the top of the UK Dance Albums chart. On May 23, 2008, the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) awarded it with its gold certification. In the course of working together with the rapper Dizzee Rascal, he was responsible for producing the latter’s song titled “Dance with Me,” on which he also sang the hook. The single which was published on June 22, 2008, quickly ascended to the top of the UK Singles Chart, where it remained for a total of four consecutive weeks.

His second studio album, titled “Ready for the Weekend,” was published by “Columbia Records” on August 14, 2009, and it reached position number one on the UK Albums Charts in its first week of release. Eleven of the album’s fourteen tracks were written, performed, and produced by him. On August 23, 2009, he continued his productive partnership with Dizzee Rascal, for which he was responsible for producing the latter artist’s single titled “Holiday.” The song that he had initially written for the girl group known as “The Saturdays,” but which they turned down, eventually climbed to the top spot on the UK Singles Chart.

I’m Not Alone, the lead single from Ready for the Weekend debuted at number one on the UK Singles Chart when it was released. The British Phonographic Industry awarded the album its gold certification. Because of the song’s apparent similarities to Chris Brown’s successful single “Yeah 3x,” which was released in October 2010, Harris was given composition credit for the latter. The song ‘You Used to Hold Me,’ which was the fourth and final single from the album ‘Ready for the Weekend’ and was released on February 8, 2010, was the final song that he performed as a regular singer for his own efforts. Since 2011, he has been focusing more of his attention on the production of music, while inviting guest singers to add their talents to his compositions.

During this period, he also made the decision to stop performing in live events and, as a result of this decision, he parted ways with the band in which he was the lead vocalist. Moving forward, he has published various remixes, some of which include those of Mr. Hudson’s “Supernova,” Katy Perry and Shakira’s “Waking Up in Vegas,” and Shakira’s “She Wolf.” In the meantime, he established the record company known as “Fly Eye Records” in March of 2010, and by 2014, the label had established a deal with Sony/ATV Music Publishing.
