Clive Standen Bio, Life and Career:

Actor Clive Standen was born on a military installation in Holywood, County Down, Northern Ireland, but he spent most of his childhood in the East Midlands region of England. Standen is a native of the United Kingdom. After completing his primary education at King Edward VII School (Melton Mowbray), he continued his education at Melton Mowbray College, majoring in performing arts.

Standen achieved gold medal status in both fencing and muay thai boxing on the international stage while he was still in his late teens. In 2007, the couple got married at Babington House. Francesca was his bride. They have three children: Hayden, Edi, and Rafferty, and all of them live in London with them. Standen obtained his first job working in a professional stunt team in Nottingham when he was just 12 years old.

There, he learned how to ride, joust, and fight with swords. This was Standen’s first experience performing stunts and sword fighting. Even though he was born left-handed, he learnt to fight with his right hand when he was young, making him one of the few people who were truly ambidextrous in the art of sword combat. His skills are flawless. Clive joined the National Youth Theatre and the National Youth Music Theatre when he was just fifteen years old.

He played main roles in plays and musicals in West End and at locations such as The Royal Albert Hall and Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre while he was a member of both of these organizations. After that, he was successful in his audition for the three-year acting program at the London Academy of Dramatic Art (LAMDA). The role of ‘Archer,’ the swashbuckling brother of Robin Hood in the BBC TV series Robin Hood, brought Standen much critical acclaim.

Many members of the national press compared Standen’s charming but edgy performance and seemingly effortless sword fighting Skill to that of Errol Flynn. He is best known for playing the battle-hardened warrior ‘Gawain’ as a series regular in the Starz networks TV series ‘Camelot’. At the conclusion of the third season, there was great speculation that “Archer,” following the death of his brother, would take up the mantle of Robin Hood and become the new hero of the program.

Additionally, Clive is well-known for a prior recurrent role in the British science fiction drama Doctor Who, in which he played the character Private Harris. Before appearing in Camelot and Robin Hood, Standen had roles in three episodes of Doctor Who, the crime thriller “Waking the dead,” the Second World War drama documentary “Ten Days to D-Day,” three episodes of “Doctors,” and the acclaimed ITV adaptation of the book “Tom Brown’s Schooldays” by Thomas Hughes.

He also had a role in the film “Tom Brown’s Schooldays.” In addition, he played the major part of Major Alan Marshall in the dramatization of the SAS mission in Sierra Leone known as operation Barras that was broadcast on the television show Zero Hour. Standen was cast in the lead part in the commercially successful Bollywood movie “Namastey London,” which also starred Katrina Kaif and Akshay Kumar. Clive was on the bottle of Evian water in 2008 as well.

The year after that, he made an appearance in the British soap opera “Doctors” as well as in the critically praised television movie “Tom Brown’s Schooldays.” After that, Clive went on to star in the British romantic comedy film “Heroes and Villains” (2006) as well as the major Bollywood production “Namastey London” in 2007. Both of these films were released in 2006.

During the same year, Clive also starred as the primary character, Major Alan Marshall, in the television dramatization “Zero Hour,” which was based on the Sierra Leone SAS mission “Operation Barras.” Clive initially came to the attention of a significant number of television fans in 2008, when he played the recurring role of Private Harris, a UNIT soldier, opposite David Tennant in an episode of “Dr. Who.” Because of his commanding presence on film, the BBC decided to cast Clive in the leading role of Archer in the following year’s installment of their successful “Robin Hood” television series.

Because of how well Clive played the role of Robin’s half-brother, many reviewers and viewers of the show hypothesized that his character would be given his own television show after the conclusion of the show he was now starring in. Clive’s seemingly effortless sword-fighting talents served him well when he joined Arthur’s round table in the regular role of Sir Gawain in Starz’s “Camelot” in 2011.

Despite the fact that this did not occur, Clive’s skills served him well when he joined Arthur’s round table in 2011. When Clive was cast as Rollo in the “Vikings” series broadcast on the History Channel in 2013, he kept his sword, but he gave up his chivalry in favor of a more aggressive demeanor. Clive was cast in the lead part of the British-based Viking movie “Hammer of the Gods” in 2013. He was an obvious choice when it came to seeking for muscular swordsmen with leading man good looks and acting ability to boot.
