Connor Jessup Bio, Life and Career:

Connor  Jessup is a Canadian actor, writer, and director who was born on June 23, 1994. His most well-known performances are Tyler Locke in the Netflix series Locke & Key, Taylor Blaine and Coy Henson in the ABC anthology series American Crime, and Ben Mason in the TNT science fiction television series Falling Skies. Additionally, he has been in many movies, most notably the commendable Blackbird  and Closet Monster. At the age of 11, Jessup started performing as a youngster.

Jessup received a starring part in the children’s television series The Saddle Club after working in a variety of early roles, including one in a stage rendition of The Full Monty. He is also credited for developing the premise of one episode for the show.  The indie film Amy George, which screened at the 2011 Toronto International Film Festival, has him on as executive producer. Jessup was a prominent character in the TNT science fiction series Falling Skies in 2011. He appeared in the programme for five seasons. Jessup has made it clear in various interviews that he wants to work in the film business as a director and filmmaker in addition to performing.

Jessup said that “directing is where my head and heart  at the moment” in an interview with the Toronto Star.  Jessup appeared in the short film Fragments in 2014, and in 2015, the Toronto International Film Festival hosted the world premiere of Boy, the short film he created, directed, and received funding for from brave fact. As a filmmaker, Jessup has shown a special interest in Japanese cinema and culture. He has also claimed in interviews that filmmakers such as Hirokazu Kore-eda, Edward Yang, Yasujir Ozu, Hayao Miyazaki, Isao Takahata, and Apichatpong Weerasethakul have had a significant effect on him.  He has also stated his love for the filmmakers Ira Sachs, Andrew Haigh, and Abbas Kiarostami. Based on the well-known Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez comic book franchise, the Netflix television show Locke and Key was created. Tyler Locke, the main character, is portrayed by Connor Jessup. He also starred alongside Regina King in the television series American Crime, which you may recall. In Steven Spielberg’s post-apocalyptic TV series Falling Skies, he also had a role.

Jessup told Yahoo Canada, “It’s sort of funny since we finished over a year ago, so I guess it feels more like a reunion than…a farewell. “I feel like we’ve said our goodbyes, and now it’s simply a lovely excuse to meet familiar people and reflect on the process of producing the show,” the speaker added.It’s wonderful, for me at least, to take a minute to think back on how significant the show has been for me. This was such a large event in all of our lives and such a big length of time.For FilmStruck and The Criterion Collection, a documentary on Thai director Apichatpong Weerasethakul was to be directed by Jessup, it was announced in 2017.

The movie premiered in the 2018 spring. He created the compilation film 30/30 Vision: 3 Decades of Strand Releasing in 2019, which included short films from a number of filmmakers, including Cindy Sherman, Ira Sachs, Brady Corbet, Rithy Pahn, Lulu Wang, and Catherine Breillat. He created his own film, Night Flight, which was based on the Antoine de Saint-Exupéry novel. Jessup portrays a disturbed youngster wrongly accused of plotting a school attack in the 2012 Canadian indie film Blackbird.

Positive reviews were given to Jessup’s performance, and the movie took home many honours, including the Best Canadian First Feature Film trophy at the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival.  The movie took up three prizes at the Atlantic Picture Festival and was named the best Canadian feature film at the Vancouver International Film Festival.  Additionally, it was shown at the Cannes Film Festival. In addition, Jessup appeared in the 2015 motion picture Closet Monster, which was presented with the Best Canadian Film Award at the Toronto International Film Festival. The movie aired at several film festivals worldwide before being released in theatres throughout the country in July 2016.

In 2016, Jessup played Taylor Blaine in the Emmy-winning ABC series American Crime Critics gave his performance high marks.For the third season, he made a comeback as Coy Henson.In 2018, Jessup was chosen for the lead role of Tyler Locke in the Netflix series Locke & Key, which is an adaptation of the same-named comic book series by Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez.
