Crystal R. Fox Bio, Life, and Career:
Crystal R. Fox is a well-known American actress and singer. She was born on January 1, 1964. Throughout her career, Fox has performed in a variety of stage productions. However, she is most well-known for her roles on television, specifically as Luann Corbin in the NBC/CBS police drama series In the Heat of the Night (1989–1995) and as Hanna Young in the Oprah Winfrey Network prime time soap opera, The Haves and the Have Nots (2013–2021). Additionally, Fox has been seen in a number of films, the most notable of which is the upcoming thriller A Fall from Grace, in which she plays the main part.
The town of Tryon in North Carolina is where Fox was born. In 1979, she made the journey from North Carolina to Atlanta, Georgia, where she continued her education through both middle school and high school. She had her first appearance on stage in Atlanta in the late 1970s when she was just beginning her career as a professional actress. She is the niece of the late singer Nina Simone and the cousin of Lisa Simone Kelly. Her aunt is the legendary singer Lisa Simone.
Driving Miss Daisy (1989), a comedy-drama film starring Morgan Freeman and Jessica Tandy was Fox’s first role on the big screen. She played Katie Bell in the film. Driving Miss Daisy won the Academy Award for Best Picture. She later became a part of the cast of the NBC police-drama series In the Heat of the Night, playing the role of Luann Corbin in the third season of the show. Throughout her career, Fox has participated in a variety of theatre shows. She has held jobs in a number of cities, including New York City, Alexandria, Silver Spring, and Atlanta, where she currently resides. For her performance in the play Home in 2002, she was put in consideration for a Helen Hayes Award nomination. Fox began starring in the prime-time soap opera The Haves and the Have Nots on the Oprah Winfrey Network in 2013. The Haves and the Have Nots is produced by Tyler Perry. She played one of the show’s key parts, Hanna Young, a compassionate single mother who works as the maid for the wealthy Cryer family. She is also the best friend and confidante of the lady of the house, Katheryn Cryer, who was portrayed by Reneé Lawless. Hanna Young is a maid for the Cryer family.
