Dave Foley Bio, Life and Career:
Dave Foley, a baby-faced Canadian comic actor, was a founding member of the daring and unorthodox comedy ensemble The Kids in the Hall. The Kids in the Hall was featured in a popular and cult-like sketch series with the same name. The bizarre comedy troupe, which was reminiscent of Monty Python, put on a series of bizarre performances, many of which involved the members of the troupe performing in drag while making fun of everything possible, including the entertainment industry and even themselves.
Foley set himself apart from the other members of the group with his special flare for the ludicrous. He was known for playing caustic and cynical characters with a boyish charm in many of his roles. Following the dissolution of The Kids in the middle of the 1990s, Foley went on to lead the ensemble cast of “NewsRadio” (NBC, 1995–1999), in which he acted as the straight man to a variety of eccentric characters. After that, he had recurring roles on a number of popular television shows, such as “Will and Grace”,”Scrubs”, and “Desperate Housewives”.
He also appeared in a number of independently produced films, such as “Dick” (1999), “Stark Raving Mad” (2002), and (2003). But it was his long association with The Kids in the Hall – who reunited several times over the years, including for North American tours in 2000 and 2008 – that allowed Foley to make an indelible impression and influence new generations of comedians and fans. The Kids in the Hall reunited several times over the years.
Dave Foley chose a career in stand-up comedy over attending an alternative high school and graduating. He met Kevin McDonald in an improv class, and the two of them started working together as a comedy team when they were both worked as ushers in movie theaters. 1984 saw the formation of “The Kids in the Hall,” which was the result of a merger with another group.
At the age of 22, Foley made his debut in the film High Stakes, which was a Canadian production (1986). His personality served as the inspiration for a significant portion of his role in the 1995 television show NewsRadio. Most notably, his addiction to coffee (it is said that he drinks several pots of it every day), as well as his fondness of the television show Green Acres (1965).
Both of his sons from his marriage to his ex-wife Southey bear the surname of their mother. On April 16th, 2003, Crissy, the Foleys’ wife, gave birth to their daughter, Alina Chiara Foley. His first experience with comedy came about when he was required to write material for stand-up comedy for a creative writing class. When he was 20 years old, he met his first wife, Tabatha, in a bar when she was just 17 years old.
Tabatha was out with one of Dave’s buddies at the time, and they were going on a date. She and Dave got into a heated discussion about the main vocalist of Psychedelic Furs and whether or not he was a decent singer. Basil Patrick Southey, the son, was born in 1995. Edmund “Ned” Southey, the son, was born in 1991. Since he was 19 years old, he has shared his life with Kevin McDonald, Mark McKinney, Bruce McCulloch, and Scott Thompson, all of whom are his closest friends.
On December 31, 2016, Foley and Guerrero, his former wife, tied the knot once again. In 2011, Foley indicated that he expects that if he returns to Canada he will be jailed since he was judicially compelled to pay Southey approximately $17,500 a month in child support, which is “essentially 400 per cent of [his] salary.” Southey was the mother of Foley’s daughter. “I have always had the presumption that renowned people have some trait about them that sets them apart from ordinary people and makes them easier to recognize.
Since I am, I suppose, a famous person now, I have come to the conclusion that, no, it’s nothing more than being on television.” ÂDave Foley After meeting each other for the first time in an improv class while working as ushers at a movie theater, Kevin McDonald and he decided to begin working together as a comedic team. He makes the observation that “doing a scene with Kevin is like the easiest thing in the world,” due to the fact that they have worked together for 14 years and are very familiar with each other’s rhythms.
In 1984, they joined forces with another group to form what would later become known as Kids in the Hall. Foley launched himself into a number of projects, including those in the film and television industries, using the immense popularity of Kids in the Hall as a launching pad. He provided the voice for the main character, Flik, the ant, in Disney’s animated film A Bug’s Life. This was a significant role for him.
When he arrived to the audition, he was more interested in making a connection with a member of the production team than he was in actually getting the part. When he’s not working on movies, he’s been contributing to another hit television show, which this time is called NewsRadio. His most recent work was the movie “Servitude,” which was released in 2012 and tells the story of a guy who must choose between abandoning his job as a waiter and keeping his lover.
