David Brown Bio, Life and Career:

David D. Brown is a well-known radio personality, editor, journalist, and author from the United States. He is also the co-creator and host of the Texas Standard, which was the first statewide daily news-magazine broadcast on public radio in Texas. In addition to that, he has produced and presented shows such as Marketplace (a radio programme that won the Peabody Award) on NPR, Texas Music Matters (a show that airs on KUT), and Business Wars. In addition to that, he is the author of the book “The Art of Business Wars.” Brown was conceived in the state of Georgia. He is a member of the State Bar of California in addition to having obtained a Juris Doctor degree from Washington and Lee University School of Law, where he also earned his PhD in Journalism.

He is also a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin. In addition, he has earned a Master of Arts in Classics and Great Books from St. John’s College and a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Georgia State University. Both of these degrees were earned by him. In the Shenandoah Valley, he participated in the Americorps programme and offered his services as a volunteer attorney.

Before becoming a member of the Marketplace team at NPR, Brown worked for the Monitor Radio service of The Christian Science Monitor newspaper in a variety of capacities, including as a reporter, producer, and host. Radio documentaries originating in India, Brazil, Europe, and the United States were all hosted by him. He has contributed numerous reports to National Public Radio and served as the executive producer of CalNet, which was the first statewide public radio news network in the state of California.

Brown succeeded David Brancaccio as the host of the nationally syndicated Marketplace radio programme produced by American Public Media and broadcast on National Public Radio from September 2003 to August 2005. David Brown served as one of the senior producers and a fill-in host for the programme until he was promoted to the role of host. In 2005, Brown launched the programme “Texas Music Matters” on KUT, the NPR affiliate in Austin, Texas. He served as the host and executive producer of the programme until 2013 when KUT tapped him to develop a signature news programme for the station, which went “all news” after the purchase of sister station KUTX in late 2012.

Brown is now the editor of the Texas Standard and hosts it on KUT.  The Art of Business Wars: Battle-Tested Lessons for Leaders and Entrepreneurs from History’s Greatest Rivalries is a book that was written by Brown. Brown has been honoured with a variety of accolades, including Murrow awards, National Headliner Awards, AP Broadcast distinctions, and Grand Prizes from the International Radio Festival. David pursued a career in radio journalism because he enjoyed telling stories, was fascinated by current events, and harboured a desire to sport long hair and participate in rock bands.
