From 2007 until 2012, he played the role of Jerry Russo, the head of the Russo family and a former wizard, in the Disney Channel series Wizards of Waverly Place and in the film adaptation of the series, Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie.David DeLuise brought a “Everyman” likeability to his body of work thanks to his late father’s silly charm and comedic talent, both of which he inherited from him.

The actor, who is the son of the famed comedian Dom DeLuise, began his career as a supporting character in film and on television. He frequently collaborated with either his father or his brothers, who were all quite accomplished. DeLuise went out on his own and landed major roles in several independent comedies. He also landed a recurring plot arc on the television show “Stargate SG-1” (Showtime, 1997-2002; The Sci-Fi Channel, 2002-06).

His past experience as a sidekick and comic relief prepared DeLuise for one of his most prominent onscreen roles, which was as a wizard and father of three teens on the critically acclaimed sitcom “Wizards of Waverly Place” on the Disney Channel (2007-11). The actor played the role of a father on the critically acclaimed comedy with equal parts humor and sincerity, which helped him earn a position among television’s most lovable parent figures.
