Elton John Bio, Life and Career:

Elton John was born on March 25, 1947 in the town of Pinner, which is located in the county of Middlesex in England. Elton John is his stage name. He was an only kid who wore spectacles, was overweight, and regarded his father as “quite snobby.” His father was a squadron commander in the Royal Air Force, which is a senior officer position.

He was terrified of his father, whom he described as “kind of stiff.” On the other hand, it was his mother Sheila who brought recordings into the house that were his first exposure to rock music. John was only four years old when he first taught himself how to play the piano. He was a student at the London Academy of Music, but he left two weeks before he was scheduled to graduate in order to pursue a career in music.

He was employed by a music publishing firm and also performed the piano in bars. Subsequently, he became a member of a band known as Bluesology. He came up with his stage name by combining the middle name of Long John Baldry, the vocalist for Bluesology, and the first name of Elton Dean, the saxophone player in the band. John chose to add the name Hercules as his middle name later on in life.

In 1968, John first made the acquaintance of Bernie Taupin (1950–), who would later become his collaborator in songwriting. Empty Sky (1969), which was John’s first album, was not successful commercially. His second album included the smash single “Your Song,” which was successful in the United States as well as in England. In 1972, “Rocket Man” became his first song to top the charts in the United States.

Other singles soon followed, such as “Daniel” and “Crocodile Rock,” both of which were taken from the album Don’t Shoot Me, I’m Only the Piano Player. Goodbye Yellow Brick Road was released in 1973 and includes the song “Candle in the Wind,” which was inspired by the actress Marilyn Monroe (1926–1962). In the same year, John established his very own record label, which he called Rocket Records.

John gained a lot of notoriety because to his outlandish attire and enormous spectacles. People referred to him as the “Queen Mum of Pop.” In addition to that, he loved to shop, drive luxury automobiles, and live in expansive residences. In the movie adaptation of the rock opera Tommy, which was released in 1975, he played the role of the Pinball Wizard.

The song “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart,” which he recorded with Kiki Dee in 1976, was his first hit to reach number one in the UK. His subsequent albums were not as commercially successful, which led to a fall in his popularity. After admitting that he was attracted to both men and women, his popularity continued to decline, and he soon started misusing substances including alcohol and cocaine.

In spite of the fact that John continued to perform throughout the 1980s, the fact that he struggled with substance abuse and alcoholism caused him to lose his “magic touch.” John first became acquainted with Renate Blauel, a recording studio employee who was born in Germany, in 1983 when she was working on the album Too Low for Zero.

They tied the knot on Valentine’s Day, which was on February 14th, 1984. Both John and his wife came under assault from the British press, with particular emphasis placed on John’s sexual past. The couple decided to end their marriage after less than five years of marriage. In the early 1990s, John sought therapy for alcoholism, drug addiction, and bulimia all at the same time (an eating disorder).

He came clean about his homosexuality, which is when a guy feels attracted to other males, and he started devoting his time and energy to assisting other people. Beginning in the year 1990, he gave 100 percent of the money he made from the sale of his singles to charitable organizations, most of which were concerned with AIDS. The Elton John AIDS Foundation was formed by him in the year 1992.

Both the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and the Academy Awards bestowed honors upon him in the years 1994 and 1995, respectively. The tragic news that John’s close friend Diana, Princess of Wales (1961–1997) had died in a vehicle accident in 1997 left John in a state of shock. At her funeral, John gave a performance of an updated rendition of “Candle in the Wind.”

After it was first made available as a single, it went on to sell more than thirty million copies. John sent all of the revenues, which amounted to more than $47 million, to the charitable organization that had been set up in Diana’s name. In recognition of his accomplishments in music and his commitment to charitable causes, Queen Elizabeth II bestowed upon him the title of Knight Bachelor.

Because of John’s dedication to helping those in need, the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences named him Person of the Year in the year 2000. Later on in same year, John collaborated with lyricist Tim Rice to compose music for the film The Road to El Dorado and the Broadway musical Aida, both of which were nominated for Tony Awards.

John also filed a lawsuit for $29 million against the accounting firm PriceWaterhouseCoopers and his former manager, alleging that both of them stole money from him. The accounting firm is a corporation that is hired to verify and compute business activities. In February of 2001, John was presented with a Grammy Award for the title of best musical show CD for Elton John .

At the award event, he performed with the rap musician Eminem (1972–), which infuriated homosexual rights activists since Eminem had previously been attacked for his anti-gay statements. Later on in same year, John put out an album called Songs from the West Coast, which many people hailed as a return to the “sound” he had in the 1970s.
