Eric Mccormack Bio, Life, and Career:
Canadian-American actor, musician, writer, and producer Eric James McCormack (April 18, 1963, height: 5′ 11″ (1,80 m)) was born in Ontario, Canada. He got his start as an actor at Toronto’s Stephen Leacock Collegiate Institute High School, where he was born. After two years at Ryerson, he accepted a position with the Stratford Shakespeare Festival and spent the next five years appearing in a wide variety of plays.
He was based in Los Angeles for most of the late 1990s, where he had supporting roles. His first major cinematic role was in the 1992 science fiction film The Lost World. McCormack has been in a number of TV shows, including Top Cops, Street Justice, Lovesome Dove: The Series, Townies, and Ally McBeal. Later, in September 1998, McCormack became known all over the world for his role as Will Truman on the American sitcom Will & Grace. In 2001, he won the Emmy for Best Actor in a Comedy Series for his role.
He has also been on the small screen, in films including 2005’s The Sisters, and on Broadway in 2001’s The Music Man. After Will & Grace ended in 2006, McCormack took the lead in the New York production of Some Girl (s). After starring in the 2008 miniseries The Andromeda Strain, he returned to small screens in 2009’s short-lived TNT drama Trust Me. McCormack’s 2009 acting career continued with a role in the science fiction film Alien Trespass. Eric’s entire life has been spent in the Greater Toronto Area. He went to both Sir John A. MacDonald Collegiate (named after Canada’s first Prime Minister) and Stephen Leacock Collegiate Institute (where Mike Myers also attended). Eric graduated with ‘lead’ rank in such stage classics as “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” “Henry V,” and “The Three Sisters” after spending five seasons with Canada’s Stratford Festival, where he was supported by his parents (his father was also an aspiring actor). Eric afterward relocated to Vancouver, British Columbia, where he became a household name thanks to his work in film and television. Eric currently splits his time between Vancouver and Los Angeles.
He changed his citizenship to that of the United States and now has dual citizenship with Canada. During the 2004 NHL All-Star Game in Minnesota, she sang both the American and Canadian national anthems. Mike Myers went to this very high school. Created Big Cattle Productions to focus on television development. As with many of Eric’s ideas, the inspiration for his business’s moniker originated from a lighthearted place. Big Cattle Prod comes from “production,” which was shortened to acquire this humorous name.
He inspired his son’s name, Finnigan, from the Mr. Dressup puppet (1967). Also from that episode, he used the term “tickle trunk” to describe his extensive acting resume. After seeing Eric in Lonesome Dove: The Series (1994), the creators of the TV show Highlander (1992) decided to write a part for him. McCormack portrayed immortal federal agent Matthew McCormick in the episode Highlander: Manhunt (1996). After seeing this episode, the producers seriously contemplated making Eric the star of his own spin-off series.
On September 13, 2018, he was honored with a Star on the Television section of the Hollywood Walk of Fame at 6201 Hollywood Boulevard in Hollywood, California. Well, that’s the challenging part of making a TV show. Going through the network testing process is like signing away seven years of your life. My one real worry about Will & Grace was that (1998). Nothing to do with the character’s sexuality was involved. It was more than that; this might be the next decade of my life.
Many aspiring actors probably think, “I can play everything,” when they first start out. If I’m cast, why can’t I play a black female character? Hey, give me a break. As you become older, you begin to see why it’s for the best that they cast a real black woman. With age came the understanding that the value of what I actually had, my life experience, far outweighed the value of what I could pretend to have. I’d been bullied for being homosexual ever since I was in the second grade, long before the premiere of Will & Grace (1998).
To that end, I had accumulated sufficient first-hand knowledge to contribute. A murderer is a more difficult character to portray. Never in my life would I intentionally harm another person… Neither the act of sexual attraction nor the thought that it arouses in me toward a man has ever made me feel uneasy. Why my show isn’t always about my parents because I know they were watching from the sidelines, wondering if their kid would turn out okay or if he’d just keep pretending to be Alice Cooper.
