Farai Chideya Bio, Life, and Career:

Farai Chideya was born on July 27, 1969, in Baltimore, Maryland, United States, Farai Chideya is an American novelist, multimedia journalist, and radio broadcaster. His full name is Farai Chideya (/fra tde./). For fifteen years, she was the producer and host of a series of radio specials titled Pop and Politics with Farai Chideya, which focused on politics. She is the creator of the podcast Our Body Politic as well as the host of the show, which debuted in September 2020. In addition, Chideya has been a distinguished writer in residence at the Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute of New York University since 2012. In this role, she is responsible for instructing students in radio production and media economics.

Chideya is a journalist who has worked in radio, video, and online media. She has also appeared as a political analyst on television networks such as CNN, MSNBC, CNBC, ABC News, Fox News, BET, and HBO. In 2015, she began her role as a senior writer for the website FiveThirtyEight, where she covered a variety of topics, one of which was the presidential election of 2016.

Kiss the Sky, Chideya’s first novel, was released by Atria Books in May of 2009 and tells the story of a black female rock artist who is making a comeback in New York City. The events of the book take place in the weeks and months leading up to 9/11, and they are firmly steeped in the spirit of the Black rock movement and the New York club scene. Don’t Believe the Hype, The Color of Our Future, and Trust: Reaching the 100 Million Missing Voters are the titles of Chideya’s three non-fiction books about race and politics.
