Griffin Newman Bio, Life, and Career:

Griffin Newman (born February 19, 1989) is a comedic actor and actor from the United States. He is known for playing the role of Arthur Everest in the television series The Tick, which is produced by Amazon Studios; for providing the voice of Orko in the animated series Masters of the Universe: Revelation, which is produced by Netflix; for cohosting the film podcast Blank Check with Griffin & David alongside film critic David Sims; and for acting as cohost and sidekick Watto on The George Lucas Talk Show.

Peter Newman, a film producer, and Antonia Dauphin, a casting director, are Newman’s parents. Newman is their son. Claude Dauphin, the man who he inherited his acting talent from, was his maternal grandfather. James Newman, his younger brother, is also an actor in his own right.  Newman spent his childhood in Greenwich Village, where he also received his education at Saint Ann’s School. From a very young age, he had an interest in performing, and he would frequently put on routines starring Fozzie Bear for his friends and family.

He began performing stand-up comedy at the age of ten as a part of Jo Ann Grossman’s “Kidsncomedy” program, which was directed by Grossman.  The majority of his work was political in nature and was developed in collaboration with his father.  Around this time, he started getting some attention from agents, despite the fact that his parents were apprehensive about him pursuing a career in acting.  His first appearance on screen was in the parody documentary The Buried Secret of M. In the film The Treatment from 2006, Newman makes his first significant appearance on screen playing the role of high school student Scott. After that, he went on to star in a number of different student films and short films. Around the same time, he also started doing stand-up comedy on a regular basis and produced a one-man show called Grifftopia, which he performed in 2009 and 2010.

In the teen movie “Beware the Gonzo,” which was released in 2010, Newman played the part of Horny Rob Becker, who was one of the friends of the titular Gonzo (Ezra Miller). Even though the movie was met with a variety of reactions when it was released, Newman’s performance was praised. During the subsequent few years, Newman had recurring roles on a number of television shows, such as Blue Bloods, Big Lake, and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, in addition to making cameo appearances in sketches for Funny or Die. After filming the pilot episode, the network decided not to pick up the show, but later that year, Fox decided to air it; however, the role of Seymour was removed from the original script. Newman has referred to the occurrence as his very own take on the Dark Phoenix saga. In the latter half of that year, Newman began working as a correspondent for Nikki & Sara Live and making recurring appearances on The Chris Gethard Show.

Between 2013 and 2014, he was a co-host of the podcast Talking TCGS, which he did together with Riley Soloner. Beginning in January 2013, he was the host of the live comedy show The Awooga Comedy Hour alongside Andrew Tavin. Beginning in May 2014, the show became a weekly broadcast.
