Jake Bible Bio, Life, and Career:
Jacob David Bible, better known as Jake Bible, is the pen name of an American novelist who writes in the genres of science fiction and horror fiction. In 2015, his work was recognized as deserving of a nomination for the Bram Stoker Award in the Young Adult Novel category for Outstanding Achievement (Intentional Haunting, Permuted Press). Bible is the creator of numerous series, including the Apex Trilogy, Z-Burbia, and others, and he has released over thirty books, in addition to other works, and short tales. Writing in Suburbia is a podcast about the professional writing industry that he hosts. Jake Bible initially used the Drabble format as an “exercise in character and plot development” when he first started using it.
After that, he had the epiphany that separate drabbles could be easily moved “about to manipulate the rhythm and timing of the narrative.” Bible published the very first episode of his podcast as well as the very first Drabble Novel, which was titled Dead Mech, in the month of August 2009. A small publisher of horror and science fiction known as Severed Press acquired the rights to publish Dead Mech along with the remaining two books in the Apex Trilogy in the year 2013. Bible continues to practice dribbling on a weekly basis by hosting a party on Friday nights called “Friday Night Drabble.”
Jake was spirited away to the Beaver State when he was three years old and nurtured in a conservative pagan environment. Jake was born Jacob David Bible pre-Microsoft in Bellevue, Washington. Jake’s hallucinations were so vivid as a result of his diet, which consisted primarily of Doritos, Fritos Bean Dip, and Chinese herbal tonics. By the time he was in the fifth grade, Jake had written and bound his own books. It really happened. He spent his childhood captivated by things that were mysterious and macabre. He would sit on the dock of the lake where his grandparents lived and read from a leather-bound copy of The Tales of Edgar Allan Poe published by the Franklin Library.
No, the book in question was not a haunted one. Also, the lake in question was not a haunted one. Yes, his grandparents were truly reanimated corpses that had been inadvertently murdered and then raised from the dead when a cocktail party got a little out of hand. They had been killed in a tragic accident and then brought back to life after the party. In addition to that, they imbibed gin and tonics. It really happened.
Jake is a novelist, short story writer, independent screenwriter, podcaster, and inventor of the Drabble Novel. He has been nominated for the Bram Stoker Award for his novels, and his stories of horror, science fiction, thrillers, and adventures have entertained multitudes. Jake has the unusual ability to write a wide range of characters and genres, from zombies to SpecOps, space opera to YA horror, and so on. Because of this, he is able to appeal to audiences of all ages. Jake is capable of writing anything from comedy to horror to action and adventure.
Jake is the author of over sixty published novels, including the bestselling Z-Burbia series, the bestselling Roak: Galactic Bounty Hunter series, the bestselling Salvage Merc One series, the bestselling Roak: Galactic Bounty Hunter series, the fan-favorite hit Team Grendel/Mega series, and his original post-apocalyptic mech/zombie mash-up, the Apex Trilogy, which is published by Severed Press.
His other novels include the young adult zombie novel Little Dead Man, the young adult horror novel Intentional Haunting, which was nominated for the Bram Stoker Award, the middle-grade sci-fi/horror series ScareScapes, and the historical fiction/space opera mash-up series Reign of Four, all of which were published by Permuted Press. Stone Cold Bastards and the Black Box Inc. series were both published by Bell Bridge Books. Jake began podcasting his first novel, DEAD MECH, for free in 2009, which resulted in over one million downloads and helped him build an early following that was both enormous and devoted. Jake has tens of thousands of readers, and this number is growing every day because of his activity on Substack, where he publishes a free drabble every Friday.
