American scuba diver, freediver, treasure hunter, and social media sensation Jake Koehler is most known for his videos on the website YouTube. Although Koehler was born in Georgia, he spent his childhood in Huntington Beach, California, and graduated from Huntington Beach High School. After receiving his diploma, he moved back to Alabama, which is the state where his family had first settled. During this time, he devoted a significant portion of his days to fishing and adventuring around the Chattahoochee River.

However, he did not have a boat, so in order to get across the river and onto the several little islands where the greatest fishing areas were located, he frequently had to resort to swimming or other inventive methods.
