Jamie Denbo Bio, Life, and Career:

Jamie Denbo is an American actress, writer, and comedian. Along with Jessica Chaffin, she is also one half of the comedic team Ronna and Beverly. Denbo was born on July 24, 1973. In addition, she played a recurring role on the FX series Terriers and had cameos in the films Spy, The Heat, and Ghostbusters (2016). Denbo was born and reared in the town of Swampscott, which is located in the suburbs of Boston, Massachusetts.

She does not have any siblings. Both of her parents were raised in Orthodox Jewish houses during their childhoods. Her mother is from Montreal, while her father is from New Jersey, close to Philadelphia. From kindergarten all the way through sixth grade, Denbo was a student at a Jewish day school. She spent a number of her summers at Camp Tel Noar in Hampstead, New Hampshire.

While there, she performed in a number of productions, including the title role of Wendy in Peter Pan and several others. Denbo received her undergraduate degree from Boston University, where she was active in the improvised comedy community. Denbo began her career as a comedian, and one of her early gigs was at the Comedy Warehouse on Disney World’s Pleasure Island in Orlando, Florida. She eventually relocated to New York City, where she began her comedy career at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater (UCB).

She is still actively performing at the UCB, although she does so now at the Los Angeles branch of the organization. She frequently appears onstage with both her husband John Ross Bowie and her comedy partner Jessica Chaffin. In addition to that, she is a teacher there. She was a stand-up comedian and appeared at the Just For Laughs festival in Montreal as well as the Aspen Comedy Festival.

Following the success that they had with their roles as supporting characters in the comedy film The Heat, she and Chaffin were supposed to lead in a comedy picture together. She is the creator of the show American Princess on Lifetime, which was canceled after only one season, and she is also the host of the podcast Beverly in LA on Stitcher. Ronna and Beverly was a podcast that Denbo and her comedic partner Jessica Chaffin aired from 2011 to 2017 on the Earwolf network.

During the course of the program, Denbo and Chaffin chatted with one another, conducted interviews with celebrity guests, and offered listeners advice. In 2006, Chaffin and Denbo were requested to present an all-Jewish “Kosher Christmas Show” at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre. This opportunity provided the catalyst for the creation of their characters.

The live performances of the duo were usually billed as “seminars,” in which their characters discuss the fictional book they co-authored titled “You’ll Do a Little Better Next Time: A Guide to Marriage and Re-marriage for Jewish Singles.” Either Chaffin or Denbo, after introducing the book, would frequently add the explanation, “It says Jewish in the name, but it’s for everyone!”.

Tina Difabio, a character that Denbo played in the sitcom Happy Hour, was one of the show’s stars. Denbo portrayed her. Additionally, she portrayed Susan Jones on the video podcast titled “Goodnight Burbank.” The show welcomed her back on August 5, 2007, to resume her role as co-anchor. Her comedy pilot, Ronna & Beverly, which was based on the successful stage play that she and Jessica Chaffin performed together at the UCB, debuted as a stand-up comedy special on the Showtime network in December of 2009.

In 2011, Denbo and Chaffin launched the comedic podcast known as Ronna and Beverly. On the show, the two of them do interviews with a new celebrity each week. She has a recurring role in the FX series Terriers as Maggie Lefferts in the year 2010. She has been seen on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson quite a few times, participating in comedic portions. She has appeared as a guest on such shows as “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” “Happy Endings,” “The Life and Times of Tim,” “Reno 911!,” “Suburgatory,” “Bad Judge,” “Mike & Molly,” “Weeds,” “How I Met Your Mother,” “Mighty Med,” “Mulaney,” “Speechless,” and “The Real O’Neals.”

Based on a web series that Denbo and Kerri Kenney-Silver had previously produced and starred in, they made a pilot for Comedy Central in December 2011 titled Dame Delilah’s Rabbit Hole Ranch. In 2010, her screenplay for the film Best Buds was purchased by Vendome Pictures, and Natalie Portman was attached to both produce and star in the film. Additionally, Denbo writes articles for The Huffington Post as a contributing writer.

Earwolf has been releasing new episodes of the podcast that bears their name once every two weeks. Comedians, actresses, novelists, and filmmakers were among the guests at the event, which also featured other creative professionals. The first episode of the podcast was released on May 25, 2011. Ronna and Beverly made an unexpected announcement that they were going on hiatus “for the summer” on the 15th of June, 2017, which was episode 161 of the show.

This came not long after they began to tease the potential of releasing weekly episodes. Since then, there have been no fresh episodes made available, and the women have not been seen acting together in any of their roles. Ronna has been kept alive by Jessica Chaffin through her appearances in character as a guest on various podcasts and through her upkeep of an Instagram account in Ronna’s name.

During the episode of the Why Mommy Drinks podcast that aired on April 16, 2018, a guest named Jamie Denbo said that she “used to” have a podcast called Ronna and Beverly. This statement appears to indicate that the series has come to an end.
