Jason Bateman Bio, Life, and Career:

Jason Kent Bateman is an American actor, director, and producer who was born on January 14, 1969. He is best known for his appearances as Michael Bluth in the sitcom Arrested Development, which airs on both Fox and Netflix, and Marty Byrde in the criminal drama series Ozark, which airs on Netflix (2017–2022).

He has been honored with a number of accolades, including the Screen Actors Guild Award, the Golden Globe Award, and the Primetime Emmy Award, among others. On the Hollywood Walk of Fame, he was awarded a star that same year (2017). He made his debut on television as a child actor in the early 1980s, appearing in shows such as the NBC drama series Little House on the Prairie from 1981 to 1982 and The Hogan Family from 1986 to 1991.

This was the beginning of his career in the entertainment industry. In addition to Teen Wolf Too (1987), Necessary Roughness (1991), Dodgeball (2004), Juno (2007), Hancock (2008), Up in the Air and Extract (both 2009), The Switch (2010), The Change-Up (2011), Paul (2011), Horrible Bosses (2011) and its sequel (2014), Identity Thief (2013), This is Where I Leave You (2014), The Gift (2015), Office Christmas Party (2016), Zootopia (2016), and Game Night (2016), he has starred in a number of other films (2018). Along with Will Arnett and Sean Hayes, he has been hosting the comedy podcast SmartLess since its inception in July 2020. Bateman made his debut as a director with the dark comedy Bad Words (2013), in which he also featured. The film was directed by Bateman.

Since then, he has directed and appeared in the films The Family Fang (2015) and the criminal drama series Ozark, which is available on Netflix (2017–2022). In 2019, Bateman was presented with the Primetime Emmy Award for Best Directing for a Drama Series for the work he did as a director on the series Ozark. In addition, he has received three Screen Actors Guild Awards for his portrayal in the series. In the year 2020, he directed two episodes of the HBO miniseries The Outsider, in which he also appeared as a recurrent character.

Bateman was born in Rye, New York and when he was four years old, his family relocated to Salt Lake City, Utah, and then to California. Bateman spent his early childhood years in Rye. His mother, Victoria Elizabeth, was a flight attendant for Pan Am. She was born in Shrewsbury, which is located in the United Kingdom, and she worked there.  His father, Kent Bateman, is a well-known figure in the American cinema and television industries, having worked as an actor, writer, and director. His older sister, the actress Justine Bateman, is in the family business. In addition to that, he has three half-brothers.

Bateman did not complete his high school education. During an interview with Wired Magazine, Bateman acknowledged that he had never obtained his graduation because he did not finish filming Teen Wolf Too in time to take his final exams. Bateman disclosed to Best Life magazine that he and Justine supported their parents through the earnings from their television shows. He also disclosed that he was managed by his father until Bateman was 20 years old, at which point the financial relationship between the two was severed.

Bateman made his debut appearance in a commercial for Golden Grahams in 1980. He then went on to launch his career in television as James Cooper, an orphaned youngster who was adopted by the Ingalls family along with his sister. Little House on the Prairie was Bateman’s first role on television. He played the role of Ricky Schroder’s “bad boy” closest buddy Derek Taylor in the television comedy Silver Spoons from 1982 through 1984.

His run on the show lasted for three years. In 1984, he had an appearance on the episode “Lost Knight” from the third season of Knight Rider, as well as in a number of other minor television roles. The creators of the show Silver Spoons gave Bateman his own leading role as Matthew Burton on the NBC sitcom It’s Your Move in 1984. Bateman played the part from September 1984 until February 1985. This was in response to Bateman’s popularity on Silver Spoons. In 1987, he made an appearance on the game show Win, Lose or Draw as part of the men’s team, with Burt Reynolds. It was the show’s first week.

The work that Bateman did on television in the middle of the 1980s, most notably as David Hogan on The Hogan Family (which was initially titled Valerie and later, Valerie’s Family, after Valerie Harper quit the series), led to him achieving the status of an adolescent idol. When he directed three episodes of The Hogan Family when he was only 18 years old, he set a record for being the youngest director in the history of the Directors Guild of America. In 1987, he received attention on a global scale for his role in the motion picture sequel Teen Wolf Too, which was not successful at the box office.

In the television movie “This Can’t Be Love,” which he appeared in alongside Katharine Hepburn and Anthony Quinn, the year was 1994. At this time, he had recurring parts on four different television programs, none of which lasted longer than a single season: Simon, Chicago Sons, George & Leo, and Some of My Best Friends. None of these shows were canceled. Also, in 1999, he directed an episode of the show Two of a Kind. In the feature film The Sweetest Thing, which was released in 2002, he portrayed the role of the outgoing sibling of the character played by Thomas Jane.
