Jessica Mauboy Bio, Life, and Career:

Jessica Hilda Mauboy is an Australian singer, composer, and actress. She was born on August 4, 1989, in Australia. She was born and raised in Darwin, which is located in the Northern Territory, and she shot to popularity in 2006 when she participated in the fourth season of Australian Idol. There, she finished in second place, and as a result, she signed a recording contract with Sony Music Australia. After performing on American Idol and releasing a live CD of those performances in 2007, as well as temporarily being a part of the girl group Young Divas, Jessica Mauboy released her debut studio album, titled Been Waiting, the year after that.

The comment left Mauboy looking completely taken aback.  Two years after the initial comment, Mauboy stated the following in an interview with Alicia Neil of Who magazine: “I interpreted it more as a joke than anything else… When I think back on it, I see it as a beneficial experience since it helped me become a more resilient person.” Mauboy relocated from Darwin to Sydney in the latter half of 2008, just prior to the release of her first studio album, titled “Been Waiting.”  She started a long-distance relationship with Themeli “Magoo” Magripilis in January 2009.

He is a soccer player and municipal worker of Greek heritage who was born and raised in Darwin.  Hellenic Athletic was the team that both Magripilis and Sophia Mauboy’s younger sister played for in the Darwin soccer league, and Magripilis was a member of that club.  In September 2016, Magripilis finally moved in with Mauboy after seven years of long-distance romance.
