Jimin Bio, Life, and Career:
South Korean singer and dancer Park Ji-min (Korean: born October 13, 1995), better known by his stage name Jimin, was given his birth name in Korean. It was in 2013 when he first appeared publicly as a performer, making his debut with the South Korean boy band BTS, which is signed to the record label Big Hit Entertainment. Jimin has released three solo tracks under the BTS name: “Lie” in 2016, “Serendipity” in 2017, and “Filter” in 2020. All three of these songs have charted on the Gaon Digital Chart in South Korea.
In 2018, he was given credit for writing and releasing his first solo song, a digital single titled “Promise.” Two years later, in 2022, he collaborated with Ha Sung-Woon to record the duet “With You” for the soundtrack of the TV drama Our Blues. In 2023, Jimin published his first album under his own name, titled Face. It debuted at number one in South Korea and Japan, as well as number two in the United States, while the second single from the album, “Like Crazy,” debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States.
He is the first Korean solo artist to ever reach number one on the Hot 100 chart and holds the record for the highest charting position on the Billboard 200. On the 13th of October, 1995 found Park Ji-min was born in the Geumjeong District of Busan, South Korea. His mother and father, as well as his younger brother, are members of his immediate family.
When he was a young boy, he received his education at the Hodong Elementary School and the Yonsan Middle School in the city of Busan. While he was in middle school, he took dance classes at Just Dance Academy, where he learned how to pop and lock. Jimin was one of the best students in the modern dance department at Busan High School of the Arts before he decided to become a trainee.
Jimin studied contemporary dance during his time there. One of his instructors recommended that he look into joining an entertainment firm, which is how he found his way to Big Hit Entertainment. After he was successful in the auditions in 2012, he changed schools and eventually graduated from Korean Arts High School in 2014.
In August 2020, Jimin received his bachelor’s degree from Global Cyber University with a concentration in Broadcasting and Entertainment. As of the year 2021, he is a student at Hanyang Cyber University, where he is working toward earning a Master of Business Administration in Advertising and Media degree. On June 13, 2013, Jimin made his debut with BTS as both a vocalist and a dancer”Lie,” “Serendipity,” and “Filter” are the titles of the three solo tracks that he published under the band’s name.
The song “Lie” was first made available to the public in 2016, when it was included in the band’s second Korean studio album titled Wings. It was said to be breathtaking and dramatic, evoking dark undertones and feelings that were consistent with the overall concept of the album. In contrast, the band’s song “Serendipity,” which appeared on the extended play (EP) Love Yourself: Her (2017), was gentle and sensual, and it conveyed the band’s delight, conviction, and curiosity regarding love.
The song “Filter,” which appeared on the BTS album Map of the Soul: 7 in 2020, had a Latin pop flavor, and its lyrics reflected the multiple aspects of Jimin that he exhibits to the public and those who are close to him. Both “Serendipity” and “Lie” hit fifty million listens on Spotify in 2018, followed shortly thereafter by the full-length version of the former song, which was included on BTS’ Love Yourself: Answer (2018) compilation album and reached the milestone in early 2019.
Jimin is the first Korean artist to have three solo tracks that gather over 50 million streams each, surpassing Psy, who had previously broken the 50 million streaming milestone twice with “Gangnam Style” (2012) and “Gentleman” (2013). Jimin became the first Korean artist to have three solo tracks amassed over 50 million streams each in 2018.
Both songs held the distinction of being the only solo efforts by a member of BTS to be included on the list compiled by the Official Chart Company (OCC) of the top 20 most streamed BTS songs in the United Kingdom as of the month of October 2018, placing 17th and 19th respectively.
When the top 40 was added to the list in April of 2019, it was enlarged to include both of these songs, and they were the highest-placed solos on the list, coming in at number 18 and number 20, respectively. Since the year 2018, Jimin has been residing with his bandmates in the Hannam-dong neighborhood of Seoul, South Korea. In 2021, he made a real estate purchase in the neighborhood that was valued at $5.3 million US.
