John Joseph Adams Bio, Life and Career:

John Joseph Adams was born on July 31, 1976, and he spent his childhood in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, before relocating to Florida when he was nine years old. He left high school when he was 16 years old, but he went on to earn his general equivalency diploma (GED), and then he attended Indian River Community College in Fort Pierce and then the University of Central Florida in Orlando.

After completing his education, he moved back to New Jersey and immediately found work in the publishing industry. 2001 marked the beginning of his employment at The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction, where he held the position of assistant editor until the end of 2009. After leaving F&SF in January 2010 to become the editor of Lightspeed for the publisher Prime Books, he went on to become the editor of the sister publication Fantasy in 2011.

In 2012, he purchased both publications, taking over as publisher as a result, and consolidated them into a single publication known as Lightspeed. In addition, he is the publisher as well as the editor-in-chief of the horror magazine Nightmare, which was first published in 2012. His editing work has earned him many nominations for the Hugo Award and the World Fantasy Award, and in 2014 and 2015, the Hugo Award for Best Semiprozine went to him for Lightspeed.

John Joseph Adams is the editor of more than thirty anthologies and serves as the series editor for Best American Science Fiction and Fantasy.
