Jonathan Edward Favreau is an American political analyst, podcaster, and the former director of speechwriting for President Barack Obama. He was born on June 2, 1981, and his full name is Jonathan Edward Favreau. During his time at the College of the Holy Cross, Favreau was actively involved in a wide variety of community and civic projects, many of which he also directed. In addition, he achieved a high level of academic success, culminating in his being named valedictorian of his class. Immediately following his graduation, he began working for the presidential campaign of John Kerry in 2004, initially collecting talk radio news for the campaign before being moved to the position of Deputy Speechwriter.

While working for the Kerry campaign, Jon Favreau first met Barack Obama, who was serving at the time as a state senator in Illinois. In 2005, Barack Obama’s communications director Robert Gibbs suggested Jon Favreau to the president as a potential copywriter for the president.
