Julie Klausner Bio, Life, and Career:

Julie Klausner is a writer, comedian, actress, and podcaster from the United States. She was born on July 3, 1978. Her role as creator, writer, and star of the Hulu sitcom Difficult People (2015–2017), in which she was joined by comedian Billy Eichner, is primarily responsible for her widespread recognition. New York City is where Klausner was born, but he spent most of his childhood in the nearby town of Scarsdale.  She attended New York University for her undergraduate degree and went on to study at the School of Visual Arts and the Upright Citizens Brigade for her graduate degree. Klausner is Jewish. Difficult People was a sitcom that was produced by Hulu and starred comedian Billy Eichner in addition to being created, written, and starred in by Klausner.

The first episode of the series aired on August 5, 2015, and Amy Poehler served as executive producer.  The premiere of Season 2 took place on July 12, 2016, and the premiere of Season 3 took place on August 8, 2017. The streaming service made the announcement on November 14, 2017, that it would no longer be airing Difficult People. The streaming service continues to make all 28 episodes available for viewing. The web series Billy on the Street, which also stars Eichner and was previously broadcast on Funny or Die, Fuse, and TruTV, will now make its debut on the Lyft website and on YouTube.

Klausner is the show’s head writer and a co-executive producer for the series. In addition to writing for television shows such as Mulaney, Best Week Ever, The Big Gay Sketch Show, The Jack and Triumph Show, Ugly Americans, and Saturday Night Live, Klausner has also contributed to popular culture websites such as The Awl and Vulture. As an actor, Klausner has appeared in a number of comedy series in addition to Difficult People.

These series include Big Mouth on Netflix and At Home with Amy Sedaris on TruTV. Additionally, she played the role of Cheryl in the FX miniseries Fosse/Verdon, which won both the Emmy and the Golden Globe Awards. In October of 2011, NBC decided to move forward with a pilot that was going to be written by an executive produced by Klausner. The pilot was going to be based on the novel Apocalipstick by Sue Margolis, and it was going to be about a woman whose father dates her enemy from high school.

It was announced in March 2018 that Klausner would be co-starring in the NBC comedy pilot So Close. The plot centers on two hopeless romantics who are unaware that they live only blocks apart and may be soulmates. Neither of these shows was chosen to be continued in a series. How Was Your Week with Julie Klausner, a comedy and interview podcast, was released for the first time by Klausner in March of 2011. Rolling Stone magazine included the podcast on their list of the “10 Best Comedy Podcasts of the Moment” that was published in 2012.

As of the beginning of May in the year 2020, almost 250 episodes had been produced. The first episode of Klausner and Tom Scharpling’s podcast, Double Threat, which they cohost together on the Forever Dog network, was released in March of 2020. Scharpling is a comedian and author. The first episode of Klausner’s advice podcast, titled “Ask Julie,” was released on the Forever Dog Plus network in March 2022.
