Justin McElroy Bio, Life, and Career:

Justin Tyler McElroy is a comedian, podcaster, and former video game journalist from the United States. His pronunciation is MACK-l-Roy. He was born on November 8, 1980. He is well-known for his work on podcasts (including My Brother, My Brother and Me, The Adventure Zone, and Sawbones), as well as the fact that he was one of the co-founders of the website Polygon, which is dedicated to video game journalism. McElroy was born in 1980 to his parents, Clint and Leslie McElroy.

His father was a former co-host of the morning radio show on WTCR-FM in Huntington, West Virginia, and his mother was Leslie. McElroy was named after him.  McElroy went to Marshall University and as of the year 2020, he will be residing in Huntington.  Since the year 2006, he has been happily married to Dr. Sydnee Smirl McElroy.  Their first child, Charlie Gail “Chuck” McElroy, was born on August 12, 2014, and their second child, Cooper Renee McElroy, was born on February 13, 2018.

Since 2005, McElroy has served as a reporter for the Ironton Tribune, where he has covered Ohio University Southern, the local communities of Ironton and Coal Grove, as well as feature stories. The McElroy brothers began producing a podcast for tabletop role-playing games under the title The Adventure Zone in the year 2014. Although Dungeons & Dragons were the primary focus of the show at first, subsequent seasons shifted the emphasis to other game systems. Justin McElroy plays the role of Taako, an elf wizard, during the first campaign of the game, which is titled Balance. In the second campaign, which is called Amnesty, Justin plays the role of a forest ranger named Wayne “Duck” Newton.

In the third campaign, “Graduation,” he played the role of a Firbolg student who remained nameless. In the fourth campaign, Ethersea, Justin plays the role of a monk by the name of Amber Gris. First Second Books adapted the first story arc of The Adventure Zone: Balance into a graphic novel in 2018, which was titled Here There Be Gerblins and was created in collaboration with the artist Carey Pietsch. In 2019, a second graphic novel titled Murder on the Rockport Limited! was released. Monster Factory is the name of the gaming comedy show that Justin and his brother Griffin have been hosting for Polygon ever since it premiered in 2015.
