Kip Addotta Bio, Life, and Career:

Francis Kip Addotta was an American stand-up comedian. He was born on June 16, 1944, and passed away on August 13, 2019. During the 1970s, he appeared on a number of different television programs, such as The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson, The Mike Douglas Show, Dinah!, American Bandstand, The Midnight Special, Don Kirshner’s Rock Concert, The Midnight Special, and the game shows The Hollywood Squares and Make Me Laugh. He also hosted the variety show American Bandstand. Additionally, Addotta was discussed on an episode of the Dr. Demento radio show. It is likely that his comedy recording titled “Wet Dream” is the one that brought him the most attention.

The songs “Big Cock Roach” and “Life in the Slaw Lane” are also available on other records.  Addotta was the opening act for a number of legendary performers, including Diana Ross, Paul Anka, and Liza Minnelli, amongst others. He has hosted the game show Everything Goes on the Playboy Channel, and he has appeared in a variety of films and television shows, including the biopic Bound for Glory (1976), which was about Woody Guthrie, and he has had acting appearances on television shows such as The Larry Sanders Show. Laff Records was his home for several of his early recordings. Addotta was the child of Frank Addotta and Josephine Addotta (née Bucalo) and was born in Rockford, Illinois.

Because his mother had been married before, he also had an older half-sister who went by the name Kathie. Addotta was only two years old when his mother abandoned the family, taking Kathy with her. His father subjected him to emotional and physical violence throughout his childhood, and when he was four years old, he was eventually abandoned in an orphanage. After that, his maternal grandma Francesca Addotta took him in to care for him and raise him.  Both his grandmother and grandpa Jesper (“Gaspare”) had emigrated to the United States from Sicily. His grandmother came first. Confessions of a Comedian, the autobiography written by Addotta, describes his grandmother as a member of the Bonanno crime family. Addotta is a famous comedian.

He was 15 years old when she passed away. His grandmother had always wished for him to become a priest; nevertheless, he ended up becoming a barber and managing a salon instead. In 1962, he tied the knot with his first wife, Mary. Mary passed away in 1966, and the couple had two kids together.  Addotta added to his family with his second wife, Lynn, by having another child. At the age of 27, he went to Los Angeles with his family in order to pursue a career in comedy. It wasn’t until he had spent some time playing at The Comedy Store that he was able to launch a successful career as a stand-up comedian.

Victor, Katheryn, and Frank were Addotta’s three offspring; he was a father to all of them. He has one granddaughter through his daughter Katheryn, and two grandkids through his son Frank. Both of his grandchildren were born to him. On August 13, 2019, Addotta passed away at the age of 75. He was an actor, renowned for his roles in “Bound for Glory,” “The Larry Sanders Show,” and “For da Love of Money,” among others (1976). He previously shared his life with Lynn Johnson and Mary Josephine Bennett after finding love twice. In the United States, he passed away on August 13, 2019. According to a statement on Facebook that was posted by his family, stand-up comic Kip Addotta, who was known for his frequent appearances on The Tonight Show, passed away earlier this week. He was 75.

Addotta’s resume includes appearances on The Midnight Special and American Bandstand, in addition to hosting the show Everything Goes on the Playboy Channel. He is most known for his work as an entertainer for the audiences of Johnny Carson. In addition, he made an appearance on the radio program The Dr. Demento Show to perform his compositions “Life in the Slaw Lane” and “Wet Dream.”

On his Twitter account, Drew Carey paid respect to Addotta by writing, “A significant impact on my stand-up. He imparted a great deal of wisdom to me both the fundamentals and the craft of comedic performance. And additionally from only observing him perform onstage. Brother, may God bless you. And you’re welcome.” During the year 1998, Addotta was a guest at Carey’s New York Friars Club Roast. The comedian, who was born in Rockford, Illinois in 1944, has made appearances in a number of films, some of which are Bound for Glory (1976) and For da Love of Money (1977). (2002). Confessions of a Comedian is the title of the autobiography that Addotta wrote and released in 2018 in which he details his career as a comedian.
