Kurt Angle Bio, Life, and Career:

Kurt Steven Angle, who was born in the United States on December 9, 1968, is a retired professional wrestler, an Olympic gold medallist in American freestyle wrestling, and a former collegiate wrestler. Angle won the gold medal in 1988. It was during his time with WWE and Total Nonstop Action Wrestling that he gained the majority of his fame (TNA) It is generally agreed upon that he is one of the finest professional wrestlers in the history of the sport. During his tenure at the Clarion University of Pennsylvania, Angle achieved a great deal of success on the wrestling mat, including being crowned the heavyweight champion of NCAA Division I Wrestling on two separate occasions. After receiving his degree from college, Angle competed in the freestyle wrestling event at the World Wrestling Championships in 1995 and came away with the gold medal.

After that, despite having a fractured neck, he competed in the freestyle wrestling competition at the 1996 Summer Olympics and won the gold medal. He is one of only three amateur wrestlers to win all six titles in the Grand Slam series (Junior Nationals, NCAA, World Championships, and Olympics). In 2006, USA Wrestling recognized him as the best shoot wrestler of all time and ranked him as one of the top 15 collegiate wrestlers in the history of the sport. In recognition of his achievements as an amateur athlete, he was inducted into the International Sports Hall of Fame in 2016. Angle made his debut in a professional wrestling event in the year 1996, and in 1999 he got a contract with the World Wrestling Federation, which would eventually be renamed the WWE.

He had his first match that August under the company’s developmental system after only a few days of training, and he featured in his first aired WWF storyline in March of 1999. He was noted for his swift comprehension of the business, and he had his debut bout that August. Following a number of battles that were staged behind closed doors, Kurt Angle finally made his broadcast in-ring debut in November. He was given his first significant push in the business in February 2000, when he held both the European and Intercontinental Championships at the same time. After another four months, he triumphed in the King of the Ring tournament of the year 2000, and not long after that, he began his pursuit of the WWF Championship, which he eventually won in October.

Angle’s resume in the WWF/E includes, among other accomplishments, holding the WWF/WWE Championship four times, the WCW Championship once, and the World Heavyweight Championship once. In the history of WWE, he is the tenth person to win the Triple Crown, and he is the fifth person to win the Grand Slam (earning this achievement twice under both the original and the current format). Angle was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame on March 31, 2017, marking the day of the ceremony.

Following his departure from WWE in 2006, Kurt Angle became a member of Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (now known as Impact Wrestling), where he went on to become the first ever and record six-time TNA World Heavyweight Champion. He was also the second Triple Crown winner in TNA’s history (as well as the only one to hold all required titles at once). Additionally, Angle has won the title of King of the Mountain thrice. During his time with TNA, he wrestled for New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) and the Inoki Genome Federation (IGF), and he was even the IWGP Heavyweight Champion at one point. Angle became the second wrestler, after Sting, to be inducted into both the WWE Hall of Fame and the Impact Hall of Fame. He was given this honor in 2013 when he was inducted into the TNA Hall of Fame.

Angle has won a combined total of 21 championships throughout WWF/WWE, Japan, and TNA, and he has been crowned world champion a total of 13 times. He is the first professional wrestler in the history of the sport to have ever won the WWE Championship, WWE’s World Heavyweight Championship, WCW Championship, TNA World Heavyweight Championship, and IWGP Heavyweight Championship all in the same year. Angle is also the only individual to have been King of the Ring (WWE) and King of the Mountain (TNA), as well as to have held both the WWE and TNA Triple Crowns.

He has headlined multiple pay-per-view events for WWF/WWE and TNA, including WrestleMania XIX and Bound for Glory on three occasions, the main events of the respective companies. In 2004, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter inducted Angle into its Hall of Fame and later dubbed him “Wrestler of the Decade” for the 2000s.  He is widely regarded as one of the most famous celebrities of the Attitude Era and is considered to be among the very best professional wrestlers ever.  John Cena, a former rival of Angle’s and a seasoned veteran of the industry, had this to say about Angle’s career in WWE: “He is without a doubt the most talented performer in all aspects that we have ever had the pleasure of witnessing in a ring. There has never been and never will be another quite like him.”
