Lea Thompson Bio, Life, and Career:

Lea Katherine Thompson is a well-known American actress and filmmaker. She was born on May 31st, 1961. Her most famous roles are as Lorraine Baines-McFly in the Back to the Future film trilogy (1985–1990) and Beverly Switzler in Howard the Duck (1986).

Both of these roles brought her a great deal of fame. The films All the Right Moves (1983), Red Dawn (1984), Some Kind of Wonderful (1987), Dennis the Menace (1993), and The Beverly Hillbillies (1993) are among the others for which she is recognized. During the 1990s, she starred in the NBC sitcom Caroline in the City as the lead role of the show’s namesake character.

She was a co-star in the sitcom Switched at Birth, which originally aired on ABC Family and later moved to Freeform. Her role as Kathryn Kennish lasted from 2011 through 2017. Thompson was one of five children that were born to Clifford and Barbara Barry Thompson, both of whom were musicians. He was born on May 31st, 1961 in Rochester, Minnesota.

Coleen Goodrich and Shannon Katona are her sisters, and Andrew and Barry are her brothers. She also has two brothers. She began her training in ballet as a young kid, and by the time she was 14 years old, she was already dancing professionally. She won scholarships to dance with the San Francisco Ballet, the Pennsylvania Ballet, and the American Ballet Theatre.

She had been dancing professionally with American Ballet Theatre’s Studio Company, which was back then known as ABT II when the time came for her to decide whether or not she would advance to the main company. She was 20 years old at the time. She received this feedback from Mikhail Baryshnikov, who served as the creative director at the time: “You’re a lovely dancer, but you’re too stocky.”

According to her, “my epiphany” occurred at the time when I decided to leave dancing and not pursue a career as a ballet dancer. It was a happy occasion since I could have continued beating my head against the wall for another ten years. She shifted her concentration to acting instead of her studies. In 1982, Thompson made her debut on the screen of a home-media device playing the role of Cecily “Sissy” Loper in the interactive live-action video game MysteryDisc: Murder, Anyone? and her first film, Jaws 3-D, which was released in 1983.

She reflected on the experience, saying that the picture was “the very first movie I ever got, but I lied and said I had done a couple of other movies, so when I showed up, I really knew absolutely nothing.” In addition to that, I mentioned that I was proficient in water skiing. And I did not.

Because I needed to be able to participate in the water-skiing show at Sea World, I had something like five days to master very, really complicated water-skiing moves. I have never even been taught how to swim! She then went on to star in the films All the Right Moves (1983), Red Dawn (1984), and The Wild Life (1984) in the years that followed.

The most well-known performance of Thompson’s is that of Lorraine Baines McFly in the trilogy of films titled Back to the Future, the first of which was released in 1985. After Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) travels back in time, he encounters Marty’s mother, played by Thompson, when she is a teenager in the 1950s. Thompson’s character is Marty McFly’s mother.

As a result of the awkward events that ensue as a result of Lorraine’s attraction to Marty, he must resist letting Lorraine fall in love with him instead of his future father, George (Crispin Glover), who is portrayed by Crispin Glover.

Thompson had starring roles in the 1986 films SpaceCamp and Howard the Duck. In the latter movie, she played the role of Beverly Switzler, a musician who was the lead vocalist for a band called Cherry Bomb and sang six songs that were included on the film’s soundtrack. The recordings were released as singles as well as on the album that served as the soundtrack. Some Kind of Wonderful, Casual Sex?, and The Wizard of Loneliness were the last three films in which Thompson appeared as a lead actor during the latter half of the 1980s.

She was also recognized for her work in the television movie Nightbreaker, which aired in 1989 and earned her a nomination for a CableACE Award. In the early 1990s, Thompson acted in films such as Dennis the Menace (1993), in which she played the mother of the title character, The Beverly Hillbillies (1993), in which she played a villain, and The Little Rascals (1994), in which she played a condescending ballet instructor. In addition, she had roles in a number of television movies throughout the decade of the 1990s, such as The Substitute Wife (1994) and The Right to Remain Silent (1996).
