Leon G. Thomas III is a well-known American actor, record producer, songwriter, and singer. He was born in either 1992 or 1993. After playing a few early roles on Broadway and lending his singing voice to the character of Tyrone on the animated series The Backyardigans that aired on Nick Jr. from 2006 to 2008, he landed the role of André Harris on the Nickelodeon sitcom Victorious, for which he was nominated for an NAACP Image Award.
After signing with Columbia and Rostrum Records, Thomas began his pursuit of fame in the music industry as a songwriter and as a member of the production duo the Rascals. He has been given writing credits on albums such as Ariana Grande’s Positions, Drake’s Certified Lover Boy, and Toni Braxton and Babyface’s Love, Marriage & Divorce (2014), which won the Grammy Award for Best R&B Album. At the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards, Thomas was recognized for his contribution to the song “Gold Roses” (2019), which earned him a nomination for the Grammy Award for Best Rap Song.
Leon G. Thomas III is the child of Jayon Anthony and Leon Thomas II, and he was born in the borough of Brooklyn in the city of New York. In 2003, when he was only 10 years old he made his debut on Broadway playing the role of Young Simba in the performance of The Lion King on Broadway. In 2004, he was a part of the original Broadway cast of Tony Kushner’s play Caroline, or Change, appearing in the role of Jackie Thibodeaux. He also toured with the company during its run in Los Angeles and San Francisco, which lasted for five months. Additionally, Thomas was a cast member in the Broadway version of “The Color Purple.”
In the film August Rush, which was released in 2007, Thomas played the role of Arthur and sang “La Bamba.” Shortly afterward, he signed a development contract with Nickelodeon and became the singing voice of Tyrone in the computer-animated musical series The Backyardigans. Additionally, Thomas has appeared as a special guest on episodes of Jack’s Big Music Show and Just Jordan. In addition, he played the role of Harper in the episode of iCarly titled “iCarly Saves TV” and made an appearance in the Christmas special of The Naked Brothers Band.
On the Nickelodeon show Victorious, in which he starred as Andre Harris and which made its debut on March 27, 2010, he portrayed a main role. Thomas also starred as Andre Harris in the episode “iParty with Victorious,” which was a crossover episode between the shows Victorious and iCarly. Thomas was featured in the songs “Song 2 You” (which he wrote) and “Tell Me That You Love Me” which were included on the soundtrack album Victorious: Music from the Hit TV Show, which was published on August 2, 2011, in the United States. Thomas was featured in the songs “Countdown” and “Don’t You (Forget About Me)” which were included on the album Victorious 2.0: More Music from the Hit TV Show, which was also published on June 5, 2012. Thomas began recording his debut mixtape, which he titled Metro Hearts and released on August 1, 2012, after it had been in the works since 2012. A new single by Leon Thomas titled “Hello How Are You” was released on September 24, 2013, featuring Wiz Khalifa as a guest artist. Thomas, operating under the alias Leon Thomas, presented the world with a new mixtape titled V1bes on Datpiff on January 1, 2014. Additionally, he disclosed that a music video for his single “Hello How Are You” was now in the production stage.
