This gives him an insider’s perspective on the industry. He and his family moved to California not long ago from the New York metropolitan area, and they currently make their home in the depths of the San Fernando Valley, which is not exactly Kardashian Country but very near. In addition to that, he has an extreme amount of pride in the fact that he has ever occupied Captain Kirk’s chair.

As part of the Writers Guild of America’s (WGA) stance against the Authors Trade Association (ATA) and the practice of packaging in 2019, Bernardin joined other WGA writers in terminating their agents. It was revealed on the 18th of August, 2019, that Bernardin would be serving in the capacity of writer for the Netflix series Masters of the Universe: Revelation. Then, on February 21, 2020, it was announced that Bernardin would be a part of the writing team for the new animated series The Legend of Vox Machina, which will be available exclusively on Amazon Prime Video. In addition, he penned comic books for many publishers, including Marvel Comics, DC Comics, and Image Comics. In 2018, he was given the pleasure of receiving a Comic-Con International Inkpot Award. Bernardin has been a close friend of the actor and entertainer Kevin Smith, and he has made appearances in a number of Smith’s films.

He provided the voice of the Mayor of Asbury Park in the animated film Jay and Silent Bob’s Super Groovy Cartoon Movie (2013), which also starred Stan Lee and Tara Strong. Additionally, he played the role of the Sleepy Blunt-Fan in the comedic film Jay and Silent Bob Reboot (2019, with Diedrich Bader, Jeff Chase, Kevin Foster, Chris Hemsworth, and Stephen Root). Since 2015, Bernardin has been a co-host of the YouTube podcasts Fatman on Batman and Fatman Beyond, both of which are produced by Kevin Smith.

In addition to that, he presented a narrative to Star Trek: The Next Generation with the working title “Past Present.”  In 2019, Bernardin participated in an interview for the DS9 documentary titled “What We Left Behind.” “Far Beyond the Stars” is one of his favorite episodes from the show. In more recent times, he has become involved in the production of Star Trek: Picard, where he will serve as the supervising producer for the next second season.  A portrait of Avery Brooks in character as Benjamin Sisko is hung on the door of Bernardin’s office. Marc Bernardin served as the film editor for the Los Angeles Times until February 2017, when he resigned from his position.

After holding senior editing positions at the Hollywood Reporter and Entertainment Weekly, he most recently headed the online entertainment vertical for Playboy.com. Prior to joining The Times, he worked in top editing roles at the Hollywood Reporter and Entertainment Weekly. He has worked as a freelance writer as well as an editor, and some of the publications that he has contributed to include GQ, Wired, Details, Vulture, and Empire.
