Marianne Williamson Bio, Life, and Career:

Marianne Deborah Williamson is a writer, politician, and contender for the presidency of the United States of America in the 2024 election. She was born on July 8, 1952. She has written a total of fourteen books, four of which debuted at number one on the bestseller list of The New York Times. Project Angel Food is a volunteer food delivery program that serves home-bound people with HIV/AIDS and other life-threatening illnesses.

Williamson also founded the Peace Alliance, a nonprofit education and advocacy organization. Both of these organizations serve people who are unable to leave their homes due to their illnesses. Williamson made an unsuccessful bid to represent California’s 33rd congressional district in the United States House of Representatives in 2014 while running as an independent candidate.

She made the announcement on January 9, 2019, that she would be running for the Democratic nomination in the upcoming presidential election in the United States of America in 2020. She was the youngest of three children that her parents had. Williamson spent his childhood in a family that observed Conservative Judaism and belonged to the upper middle class. Members of her family were active participants at Congregation Beth Yeshurun. She grew interested in public activism after watching her rabbi speak out against the Vietnam War.

At home, she had been educated about other religions and the importance of social justice. She has stated that it was via travel that she “got an experience, at an early age, that humans are the same everywhere.” She did this through her experiences with different cultures. Williamson became interested in the book A Course in Miracles written by Helen Schucman in 1976, despite the fact that her religious beliefs had caused her to be originally uninterested in the subject.

At the same time that she began “passionately” reading the Course, she was also interested in metaphysics, meditation, and spirituality. She found a place to live in Hollywood, and her roommate there was a young actress named Laura Dern, who was only 17 at the time. Dern said that Williamson “had prayer sessions in our living room.”

The enlightening message that served as the foundation for Williamson’s teachings was as follows: “Divine love is the center and substance of every human mind.” She saw this message as a solution to erroneous interpretations of the Bible, which, by placing an emphasis on wrongdoing and guilt, may cause people to come to harm (e.g. slavery, depression, self-loathing).
