Megan Mullally Bio, Life, and Career:
Megan Mullally is a well-known American actress, comedian, and singer. She was born on November 12, 1958, in the United States. She is best recognized for her role as Karen Walker in the NBC sitcom Will & Grace (1998–2006, 2017–2020), for which she received eight nominations for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series and won twice, in the years 2000 and 2006. She was also nominated for a number of other awards for her portrayal, including four nominations for the Golden Globe Award and seven consecutive nominations for the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series.
She won the award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series on three separate occasions, in 2001, 2002, and 2003. Megan Mullally was the host of her own talk show, titled The Megan Mullally Show, from 2006 until 2007. Since that time, she has appeared as a series regular on a number of different television shows, including In the Motherhood, Party Down, Children’s Hospital, and Breaking In, among others. Mullally was born in Los Angeles, California, and is the daughter of Martha (née Palmer) and Carter Mullally, Jr. an actor whose father worked as a contract player for Paramount Pictures in the 1950s. At the age of six, Mullally uprooted her life and moved to Oklahoma City, which was her father’s hometown. She has ancestry from the United Kingdom, Ireland, and Scandinavia. She started taking ballet classes when she was six years old and went on to perform with the Oklahoma City Ballet while she was still in high school.
She also attended the School of American Ballet in New York City. After receiving her diploma from Casady School in Oklahoma City, Mullally continued her education at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, where she majored in both English literature and art history. After completing her sophomore year, she started her acting career in theatres located in the downtown area of Chicago. By the time she was a junior, she was already appearing in eight shows a week. In order to pursue a career in acting, she eventually withdrew from Northwestern. A McDonald’s advertisement that also starred John Goodman was where Megan Mullally made one of her earliest appearances as an actress.
In 1986, she made her first appearance in a television series called The Ellen Burstyn Show. In the years that followed, she appeared as a guest on a number of popular television sitcoms, including Seinfeld, Frasier, Wings, Herman’s Head, Ned and Stacey, Mad About You, Caroline in the City, 3rd Rock from the Sun, and Just Shoot Me!
