Michelle Buteau Bio, Life, and Career:

Michelle Buteau is a stand-up comedian, actor, television personality, and podcast host based in the United States of America. She was born on July 24, 1977, Buteau’s Haitian father is of partial Lebanese origin, and his Jamaican mother is of half-French descent. Buteau was born in New Jersey to these parents. She got her undergraduate degree from Florida International University and, prior to beginning her comedic career, was thinking about having a career in journalism.

Buteau began his stand-up comedy career a few days after the September 11 attacks in 2001. Buteau got her first television position on Comedy Central after performing stand-up comedy for a total of five years prior to that. In 2017, Buteau was included on Esquire’s list of the top ten comedians to keep an eye on.

Buteau took over the presenting duties for the Late Night Whenever! podcast in 2018, which Time magazine has called “one of the greatest podcasts of 2018 so far.”  In addition, Buteau appeared on Netflix’s The Comedy Lineup, a show that showcases up-and-coming comedians by having them do 15-minute stand-up performances. Buteau has roles in the following films released in 2019: Someone Great, Isn’t It Romantic, Sell By, and Always Be My Maybe.  In addition to that, she and her co-host Jordan Carlos launched a podcast on WNYC called Adulting.

Buteau had appearances in two different television series during the same year: First Wives Club and Tales of the City. In the year 2020, Buteau became the host of The Circle, a reality television show that was broadcast on Netflix. Buteau’s first book, a collection of personal essays titled Survival of the Thickest, was released by Gallery Books, an imprint of Simon & Schuster, in the year 2020.
