Mike Posner Bio, Life, and Career:
Michael Robert Henrion Posner is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, and record producer. His birth name is Michael Robert Henrion Posner, and he was born on February 12, 1988. In 2010, he released his first studio album, which was titled 31 Minutes to Takeoff. The track “Cooler than Me,” which peaked at number 10 on the US Billboard Hot 100, as well as “Please Don’t Go,” which peaked at number 20, are both included on the album. At Night, Alone was the title of his second studio album, which was released in 2016. Remixes of his 2015 single “I Took a Pill in Ibiza” from the album peaked in the top 10 on the charts in 27 countries around the world, including attaining number one in several and the top five on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States.
Posner has also contributed to the songwriting efforts of a large number of other artists. Tear Drops & Balloons was Posner’s debut collection of poetry, and it was published in 2017. In addition to that, he and Blackbear make up one-half of the alternative hip-hop and R&B combo known as Mansionz. He spent his childhood years in Southfield, Michigan, which is located in the northern suburbs of Detroit.
He is the younger sibling, while his sister is six years his senior. His mother is a practicing Catholic while his father was Jewish. Posner attended Bingham Farms Elementary School, Berkshire Middle School, and Groves High School, where he competed on the varsity track and cross-country teams. Posner graduated from Groves High School. He received his education at Duke University, where he participated in the Sigma Nu fraternity throughout his time there. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and finished with a GPA of 3.6.
His mother is Roberta Henrion, and his sister Emily Henrion Posner is a civil rights attorney. Posner’s father, Jon, was a criminal defense lawyer and passed away on January 11, 2017. His mother is Roberta Henrion. Posner began his career in the music industry as a record producer, collaborating with his childhood friend Big Sean on several tunes. In 2009, Posner’s mixtape, A Matter of Time, which was his second mixtape overall (his first mixtape was titled Reflections of a Lost Teen), began to garner attention from the industry.
The mixtape was recorded at Duke University in March 2009 with the assistance of Don Cannon and DJ Benzi under the name “Mike Posner & the Brain Trust.” The name “Brain Trust” refers to Posner’s followers. The release was unique in that it was made available without charge through iTunes U, a platform that is specifically created for the distribution of instructional audio content.
Posner was not the first artist to take advantage of this gap; nonetheless, his release was the most organized and high profile, and it generated the largest response, immediately reaching the number-one spot on the iTunes U chart. Despite the fact that Posner was not the only artist to take advantage of this loophole, he was the only one to take advantage of it. Following the completion of his junior year at Duke University, Posner entered into a recording contract with J Records (RCA/Sony) in July 2009. After signing with the label, he made the decision to go back to Duke and continued to perform on the weekends while simultaneously creating his debut album.
October 2009 saw the release of One Foot Out the Door, Posner’s third and most recent mixtape. The mixtape was backed by a web series with the same name that ran from September to December and was broadcasted every other week. The first album published by Posner, titled 31 Minutes to Takeoff, came out in August 2010. The debut single, titled “Cooler Than Me,” is now ranked number 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States. He gave performances at the music event Bonnaroo as well as on the Warped Tour in the year 2010.
On the Billboard Hot 100, the band’s second and third singles, “Please Don’t Go” and “Bow Chicka Wow Wow,” respectively peaked in the top 20 and top 30 of the chart. The second version was published with a new verse contributed by the rapper Lil Wayne. The song “Cooler Than Me” written by Posner earned him an ASCAP Award from the publishing group in 2011. J Records, Arista Records, and Jive Records were all dropped as divisions of RCA Music Group in an official announcement made on October 7th, 2011.
As a result of the closure, Posner (along with all other artists who had previously been signed to these three labels) will now release his upcoming songs under the RCA Records banner. After the success of his first studio album, he immediately began working on his second studio album, which would eventually be given the title Sky High. On December 2, 2011, he distributed the song “Looks Like Sex” to digital outlets. Posner has just published his third mixtape, which is titled “The Layover,” as a precursor to the release of his album.
However, as a result of the popularity of his first album, Posner struggled with depression and became uncomfortable with being in the spotlight. He took a break from creating his own music in order to compose and produce songs for other musicians. Later, Posner revealed on Twitter that the title of his new album would be Pages and that it will be released either around the beginning of June or at the end of Summer 2013.
On June 11, 2013, his track “The Way It Used To Be” made its debut on digital distribution platforms. It was announced in September 2013 that he had recorded a music video for his new track “Top of the World,” which would be on his forthcoming Page 1 EP, which is scheduled to be released in October. The release date for the EP is October. The song was first included in an advertisement for Reebok and afterward offered as a free download under the title “Tapada World” as a special remix. The music video was presented on December 19, 2013, and the song with Big Sean was made available for purchase on December 17.
