Milly Alcock Bio, Life, and Career:

Amelia May Alcock is a well-known Australian actress who was born on April 11th, 2000. She was recognized by the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) for her work in the Foxtel comedy-drama Upright (2019–2022). In the HBO fantasy series House of the Dragon (2022), she made her first appearance on the world stage playing the role of young Rhaenyra Targaryen. Alcock received a nomination for a Critics’ Choice Television Award in the category of Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series because of her performance in this role.

In 2018, the Casting Guild of Australia (CGA) recognized Alcock as an emerging star in the industry. Alcock was born on 11 April 2000 and grew up in the city of Sydney, which is located in the state of New South Wales. She is the younger of two brothers. Alcock got his start in the performing world when he was cast as Little Red Riding Hood in the production of Little Red Rocking Hood that was put on by Taverners Hill Infants School. She started began her education at the nearby Stanmore Public School before transferring to Newtown High School of the Performing Arts.

However, she left that school in 2018 after being cast in the role of Upright. As a young adult, Alcock had her first appearance on television in an episode of the romantic comedy Wonderland, which aired on Network Ten in 2014. She has been featured in advertisements for Woolworths, NBN, Cadbury, and KFC. She presented on the short-form shows B.F. Chefs and Hanging With on the Disney Channel in Australia from 2015 through 2017 and was a star on the channel during that time. In the year 2017, Alcock got her first titled roles, including Isabella Barrett in the web miniseries High Life and roles alongside Odessa Young and Cindi Jackson in the third and final series of the ABC Television drama Janet King.

The next year, Alcock appeared as Maya Nordenfelt in the drama Fighting Season, which was produced by Showcase. In addition, she played the role of Emma Carvolth in the sixth and final season of A Place to Call Home, as well as Marissa Campbell in Pine Gap and Sian Galese in the ABC series Les Norton. In 2018, Alcock made her debut in her first full-length motion picture, titled The School.

In 2019, Alcock started starring in the Foxtel comedy-drama series Upright as runaway teenager Meg, traveling over 2,000 miles of the Australian desert. This role was one of the contributing factors that led to her being rewarded with a Casting Guild of Australia Rising Star Award in 2018. As a result of her performance, Alcock was recognized with a nomination for Best Comedy Performer at the 10th Annual AACTA Awards.

This made her one of the youngest contenders in the category. In the second season of Upright, which began airing in 2022, Alcock made his reappearance. She also appeared in minor roles in the television shows The Gloaming and Reckoning, playing the roles of Jenny McGinty and Sam Serrato, respectively.

It was revealed in July 2021 that Alcock had been cast in the role of young Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, which would eventually be performed by Emma D’Arcy, in the 2022 HBO fantasy series House of the Dragon. House of the Dragon is a precursor to the Game of Thrones television series and an adaptation of George R. R. Martin’s fictional history novel Fire and Blood Milly Alcock’s performance as Rhaenyra in House of the Dragon was singled out as a point of emphasis and praised by critics.

Daniel van Bloom, writing for CNET, said that Milly Alcock was “the shining star of House of the Dragon’s opening episodes.” She has a delightfully expressive face — just a simple narrowing of the eyes or a pursing of the lips can reveal the full gamut of feelings that are associated with king’s court politics. As a result of her performance in the role, Alcock was considered for the Critics’ Choice Television Award in the category of Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.

Alcock had been living with her family in Sydney and working various side jobs in order to make ends meet prior to being cast in the role of House of the Dragon. After that, she relocated to London, initially settling in Primrose Hill and eventually relocating to an apartment in East London.
