Moshe Kasher Bio, Life, and Career:
Mark Moshe Kasher, better known as Moshe Kasher, was born in New York City’s Queens borough on July 6, 1979. Both of Moshe Kasher’s parents were deaf, and they had two boys. Moshe’s brother, David, was also born into the family. When he was nine months old, his mother abandoned him and his father, Steven J. Kasher. The comedian’s family eventually relocated to Oakland, California, when he was just one year old.
Famous for his relationship with Natasha Leggero, comedian and novelist Moshe Kasher is also well-known in his own right. He had intended to become a college professor of Jewish history until falling in love with stand-up comedy in 2001. Since then, he’s appeared in a wide range of concerts and venues.
The year 2009 marked a turning point for Kasher. He was hailed as the finest at the Aspen comedy festival, so he made his television debut on Comedy Central’s Live at Gotham and also produced a successful comedy CD on iTunes. His first Netflix comedy special debuted in 2012, and in 2018, he and Natasha Leggero released their second special, The Honeymoon Stand-Up Special.
Furthermore, Moshe Kasher produced and presented the Comedy Central show Problematic, appeared on Chelsea Lately and co-hosted the podcast The Champs. He has appeared in the films Sorry, Thanks, and Traffic Lights and the television shows Whitney and Shameless. Also, Moshe and his wife both made an appearance in Another Time.
As well as being a musician, Kasher is also a published novelist. For Heeb magazine, he contributed a few pieces. Moshe published his memoirs in 2012 when he admitted to having visited psychiatric clinics frequently throughout his youth and engaging in drug use throughout that time.
Kasher and Natasha Leggero got married on October 11, 2015. The couple had a daughter in February 2018. In addition to being husband and wife, Moshe and Natasha work together. They have a Netflix special, but they also perform together frequently and even went on tour in 2016. They view travel as an integral aspect of their marriage and frequently take their daughter with them.
Interestingly, Moshe’s sign language skills stem from the fact that both of his parents are deaf. Even as a young man, he was able to make a living for himself by working as an interpreter. Originally from New York, Moshe Kasher now resides in Los Angeles, where he works as a stand-up comedian, actor, writer, and producer. Though he is most known for his stand-up humor, he has also achieved widespread recognition for his contributions to such films as Zoolander 2, Another Period, and Betty. His autobiography, titled “Kasher in the Rye,” was published in 2012. In addition to being a comedian, the man has presented various podcasts.
The multitalented comedian was dubbed “Comic to Watch in 2010” by Punchline Magazine and “Best New Comic of 2009” by iTunes for his spectacular crowd skills. The fact that he is married to Natasha Leggero has only added to his already considerable notoriety. Today, I’d want to tell you about the comedian’s difficult upbringing, career, and personal life.
Moshe went to school at Oakland’s Temple Sinai and was a bully even as a kid. His mother began taking him to counsel when he was four years old due to his antagonistic conduct. Between the ages of 12 and 16, he was a drug addict with serious addiction and anger management issues. Kasher, at the age of sixteen, took it upon himself to clean up after being expelled from four different high schools and forced to attend multiple therapy sessions by his mother. Despite his mother’s best efforts, Kasher was able to overcome his heroin addiction and go on to have a successful professional career. They have a show where they chat about their life experiences on Comedy Central.
At 16, Kasher graduated high school and started working as a sign-language interpreter. While attending a small college in the Bay Area, he majored in theater and authored several lengthy monologues. Moshe eventually went on to earn a degree in religious studies with a Jewish Studies concentration from the University of California, Santa Barbara. He started performing stand-up shortly after.
Chelsea Peretti, a longtime friend and fellow comic, encouraged Kasher to try out open mic comedy events, where he quickly found his niche. There, at the Luggage Store Gallery in San Francisco, he performed at his first open mic.
Kasher began his professional career in the early 2000s when he became a regular at San Francisco’s Punch Line and Cobb’s comedy clubs. Kasher, along with comedians Brent Weinbach and Alex Koll, appeared at countless early-career events. He uprooted to Los Angeles in 2009 to give his career a try. Almost immediately, the comedian’s professional life underwent a complete transformation, and his relocation to Los Angeles proved to be a watershed moment in his career.
