Pamela Paul is a columnist, writer, editor, and author who was born in the United States in 1970 or 1971. She has been working for The New York Times as an opinion columnist ever since 2022.  She held the position of editor of The New York Times Book Review from 2013 until 2022, during which time her responsibilities grew to include oversight of the whole book coverage in The New York Times, including the staff critics and publishing news and Jerome D. Paul are Paul’s parents, and Paul is their daughter. Her father worked in the construction industry, while her mother had a career in advertising, first as a copywriter and then as the editor of Retail Ad World.

She was born into a Jewish family. Paul has written for a wide variety of magazines, such as Vogue, The Washington Post, The Atlantic, and Worth, and he has been a contributor to the publication Time magazine. She was a senior editor at the defunct magazine American Demographics, and she was a London- and New York-based reporter for The Economist. She published a monthly arts column for The Economist from 1997 to 2002, and she also reviewed movies, plays, and novels for publication. When Paul first started working for The New York Times in 2011, she was assigned to write the column known as “Studied.” She also held the position of children’s books editor and features editor for the Book Review prior to being promoted to the position of editor for the Book Review.

During the period that she was editor, she was also the host of the weekly podcast for the Book Review. It was referred to as “one of the best podcasts in the entire globe” by Podsauce. She has written a total of eight books thus far. Her first marriage ended, and as a result, she was motivated to write her first book, which was titled The Starter Marriage and the Future of Matrimony.
