Ralph Fiennes Bio, Life, and Career:
Ralph Fiennes is an English actor, film producer, and director. His full name is Ralph Nathaniel Twisleton-Wykeham-Fiennes. He was born on December 22, 1962. As a Shakespeare interpreter, he first achieved success onstage at the Royal National Theatre and then went on to achieve even more success at the Royal Shakespeare Company. He has been honored with a number of awards, such as a BAFTA Award and a Tony Award, and he has been nominated for three awards in total, including two Academy Awards and an Emmy Award.
In 1992, he made his début in the role of Heathcliff in the film adaptation of Emily Bront’s Wuthering Heights. His performance as the Nazi war criminal Amon Goth in the drama directed by Steven Spielberg and released in 1993 got him nominations for the Academy Award and the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor. He also won the BAFTA Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for his work in the film. In recognition of his role as Count Almásy in the 1996 film The English Patient, he was nominated for a second Academy Award, this time in the category of Best Actor. He also received nods from the BAFTA and the Golden Globe Awards.

In 1973, the Fiennes family made the journey to Ireland, where they split their time between County Cork and County Kilkenny for a number of years. After spending one year at St. Kieran’s College, Fiennes continued his formal education at Newtown School, an independent Quaker institution located in County Waterford. After completing his education at Bishop Wordsworth’s School in Salisbury, England, the family relocated to the city of Salisbury. After graduating from Chelsea College of Arts with a degree in painting, he eventually came to the realization that acting was his actual calling.
Between the years 1983 and 1985, Fiennes attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art for his training. Before reaching notoriety with the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC), he began his career at the Open Air Theatre in Regent’s Park as well as the National Theatre.
