Rituparna Sen Bio, Life, and Career:
Rituparna Sen, better known by her stage name Rii Sen, is a Bengali film actress who hails from India. She began her career working as a model and an actress on television in her free time. Tepantorer Mathe was her first film, however, filthy images prevented it from being shown in theaters when it was first released. Sen had competed as a participant in the Bangla version of Bigg Boss season 2, and she had reached the second elimination round of the competition. She has appeared in films such as Bishh and Gandu, as well as Cosmic Sex.
Sen is widely recognized as one of the most notable actresses working in alternative Bengali cinema. For her performance in the film Cosmic Sex, she was given the award for best actress at the Osian’s Cinefan Festival of Asian and Arab Cinema. She is known for her roles in the television shows Tithir Otithi and Ekhane Akash Neel, as well as a few short films. Tepantorer Mathe was supposed to be Sen’s first starring role in a major film, but it was ultimately scrapped.
In the year 2009, Sen was a cast member of the documentary titled Love in India, which was directed by Qaushiq Mukherjee. The documentary focused on derotator, which can be loosely translated as “worshiping through one’s body.” She also had a role in a different documentary that year called Many Stories of Love and Hate, which was directed by Shyamal Karmakar. In 2010, the documentary was presented to audiences at the Mumbai International Film Festival.
She has a role in the film Bissh, which Qaushiq Mukherjee directed in 2009. Rii gave life to the role of Anushka, a young woman attending university in this movie. Rii claims that this was an extremely difficult job to do and that she had a lot of trouble living up to the expectations of the character. During the course of the conversation, she stated, “I play Bee in Bishh… Bee is not a girl who can be described as being straightforward or simple. She is contradictory in that she is both confused and confident. Perhaps this is the reason why people call her Bee. While I was getting into the role of the persona, I came dangerously close to losing who I am.
Sen portrayed the main character in the movie Gandu, which was released in 2010. Sen was forced to perform a nudity scene in front of the camera for this role. In an interview, the director of the film, Qaushiq Mukherjee, stated that he cast Rii in the role because, in his opinion, she was the only heroine in the Bengali film industry who was capable of playing the part. Rii’s work was praised by IBNLive, which stated in their assessment that “All the characters have put in their best efforts.” Both Komolika and Rii have displayed an impressive level of self-assurance throughout all of the sex scenes, demonstrating their growth as actresses.
Sen had a supporting part in Srijit Mukherji’s film Autograph, which came out in 2010 and was directed by Mukherji. Sen appeared in the film Koyekti Meyer Golpo, which was directed by Sen’s brother Subrata Sen and released in 2012. In this movie, she played the role of a woman who was married to a crime boss. Amitabh Chakraborty directed the Bengali movie “Cosmic Sex,” in which she also appeared as an actress.
The narrative of the movie is on a young man’s journey of sexual awakening and self-discovery. During his travels, the young man, Kripa, comes into contact with a prostitute, a eunuch, and a female ascetic by the name of Sadhana. The movie was shown at Osian’s film festival, where it was met with enthusiastic applause from the audience.
Tasher Desh was released in 2013 and starred Sen in the role of Horotoni. The film was directed by Q alias Qaushiq Mukherjee. Indian media outlets have referred to the movie as a “trippy adaptation” of the Rabindranath Tagore drama of the same name.
A story that was written in May 2013 and published in The Times of India states that Sen has a role in the film Byanka Prithibi, which is being directed for the first time by Anirban Mukherjee. Her role in the movie is that of a housewife, which she plays very convincingly. It was revealed in 2014 that Rii will be starring in the upcoming film LUDO, which was being produced by Q (Quashiq Mukherjee) and Nikon, playing a part that had never been seen before on Indian screens.
Sen is widely recognized as one of the most accomplished actresses working in alternative Bengali cinema. The performances of Sen were referred to in an article published by Mint as “the common link between a set of films that has been challenging the norms of acceptability and decorum in the past few years.” According to Sen, she is a member of a sexuality-related cult. She also disclosed that she intends to push the boundaries of her sexuality in the film “to the point where it becomes extreme and dangerous.”
Sen was assaulted during frontal nudity scenes filmed for the films Gandu by Kaushik Mukherjee and Cosmic Sex by Amitabh Chakraborty. According to a revelation that was published in The Times of India, Sushmita Sen went for a frontal nudity sequence six months before Paoli Dam’s work, despite the fact that Dam is often credited as being the first Indian actress to shoot complete nude scenes.
Sen expressed her happiness that she could use her body for “a great cinematic purpose” and said that this made her happy. In addition, she stated, “As an artist, I believe that it is essential to record the passing of time through one’s work.” And I would hate for anyone to consider the work that I perform to be a gimmick of any kind.
