Scott Johnson Bio, Life, and Career:

Scott Blaine Johnson is a cartoonist, illustrator, game designer, and podcaster from the United States of America. He was born on July 17, 1969. Along with his wife and three children, he makes their home in South Jordan, Utah. Frog Pants Studios, LLC, an illustration and audio production company, was established by Johnson in the year 2008. Salt Lake City, Utah is where Scott Johnson began his life. In the nearby suburb of Sandy City, he spent his childhood and his high school years. In addition, while serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he was stationed in the states of Mississippi and Louisiana (LDS Church).

During his time in the service, Johnson was introduced to his future wife, Kim. In June of 2001, Johnson initiated the publication of the webcomic ExtraLife. The subject matter focuses on a variety of Johnson’s interests, including movies, computers, video games, and technology. Johnson debuted his second webcomic, titled Experience Points, in the year 2009; it is a parody of World of Warcraft and other massively multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPGs). Crispy Gamer, which ceased operations in January 2010, was the publisher of a number of different webcomics, including this strip. After that, it was transferred to GameCulture.

Johnson is the artist behind the well-known “56 Geeks” poster, and he also illustrated the cover of World of Warcraft Programming. (2010)The first episode of the Fred and Can webcomic was released on February 3, 2020. The story of Fred and Can follows Fred as he travels the world with his sentient can of spoiled creamed corn. Johnson publishes the card game Rock Runners Incorporated in the year 2021, which he was responsible for both designing and illustrating. The card game 99, which Johnson’s parents taught him, serves as the basis for this board game. Rock Runners Inc. takes some of the original ideas from 99 and gives them an extraterrestrial slant in their game.

The goal of the game is to amass the greatest number of space rocks while also avoiding being the last player to act in order to accumulate space credits. Johnson and Brian Ibbott were the ones who initiated it on January 24, 2011. It is typically released in the morning on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday for the purpose of discussing current events in entertainment and politics, taking live calls, and publishing other segments. The Morning Stream was honored with a People’s Choice Podcast Award in the entertainment category in 2011, as well as two awards in 2013 for the categories of People’s Choice and Comedy.

In March of 2014, Johnson and Ibbott began producing a weekly evening edition of the show, which airs live on Thursday nights and is published as a podcast the morning after; this version of the show, which is called TMS PM, features most of the same elements as the morning show and is one hour long rather than the usual two hours, but it includes two songs each time as the other daily episodes do. Patreon backers who have reached the $5,000-per-month donation tier on the show’s Patreon page are eligible to receive TMS PM as a reward for their support. TMS PM is a Patreon exclusive. The Instance was a weekly publication that had won awards.

The World of Warcraft podcast was started in 2006 by Johnson and Andrew Konietzky, who was the host of ExtraLife Radio at the time. Both Johnson and Konietzky had observed that there were not many podcasts that were specifically dedicated to the MMORPG. The show was devoted to discussing the latest developments and rumors surrounding the game, and it relied heavily on contributions from its audience. An early contributor by the name of Randy “RandyDeluxe” Jordan joined the podcast as a third-seat participant on show 45. After Konietzky left the show in 2007, Jordan eventually became the second-seat participant.

Jordan was a part of the show (becoming a regular guest on ExtraLife Radio and a co-host on Film Sack) until a job opportunity at Blizzard Entertainment (the company that makes World of Warcraft) required him to retire from his position. After that, he became a regular guest on ExtraLife Radio and co-hosted Film Sack. Jordan’s final show, which aired as #217 and was titled “Now I’ve Gotta Go…” in his honor, was dedicated to him. Mark “Turpster” Turpin, a previous show guest and friend of the show, and William “Dills” Gregory stepped in for Jordan as his replacements, respectively (a member and raider in the Instance guild, Alea iacta est). In 2014, Patrick Beja, a friend of the network as well as a former employee of Blizzard, joined that podcast as a member of the fourth seat. The podcast was recognized as the Best Podcast by the Blogger’s Choice Awards in the year 2008. On February 25, 2022, Episode 666 of the podcast, titled “The Final Boss,” marked the conclusion of the series.
