Scott Mosier Bio, Life, and Career:

Scott A. Mosier is a film producer, director, and editor from the United States. He is best known for his collaborations with the director Kevin Smith, with whom he occasionally co-hosts the weekly podcast known as SModcast. Mosier was born on March 5, 1971. Mosier was born in Vancouver, Washington, and spent his childhood commuting back and forth between British Columbia and the state of Washington. Due to the fact that his father John was born in Saskatchewan in Canada, he is a citizen of both Canada and the United States.

He spent his teenage years in Vancouver, which is located in British Columbia. Mosier and Kevin Smith first crossed paths while they were both students at the Vancouver Film School in British Columbia, Canada. Their first project, titled Mae Day: The Crumbling of a Documentary, was a student documentary film that was in the process of being produced but eventually fell apart. In an effort to save it, Smith and Mosier conducted interviews with the crew of the documentary that they had been attempting to produce in order to find out what went wrong with it.

In addition to that, they included a segment in which the two were shown in silhouette while describing their fictitious thoughts. Smith made the decision to withdraw from the eight-month program when he was four months into it, but not before making a deal with Mosier. The two agreed that they would each begin writing a script of their own, and whoever finished their script last would assist the other with his film.

On the set of Smith’s debut feature film, Clerks, Mosier was responsible for recording the film’s original sound, editing the movie (at RST Video), and contributing to the film’s budget. In addition, he made a contribution by acting in the film in the roles of a variety of characters, including the irate hockey player and William Black (Snowball). On the movie Mallrats, which was released in 1995, Mosier presided over a much larger crew while simultaneously working to organize the budget alongside line producer Laura Greenlee. In the movie, he played the role of Roddy, who was Svenning’s assistant. After that, the character showed up in a Jay and Silent Bob skit that was broadcast on MTV.

On the set of the romantic comedy film Chasing Amy, which was released in 1997, producers Mosier and Smith reached an agreement with Harvey and Bob Weinstein of Miramax to reduce the initial proposed budget from $3 million to $250,000. Because of the compromise, Mosier and Kevin were able to cast their friends rather than established stars in the role.

Mosier makes an appearance at the beginning of the movie playing the role of the comics convention goer who insults Banky Edwards’ (Jason Lee) profession as a tracer and then gets into an argument with him. Mosier and Greenlee collaborated once more on the film Dogma, which was released in 1999; the editing process for the film lasted for almost an entire year. In addition to that, he had the role of the Smooching Seaman who Ben Affleck and Matt Damon encounter on the bus. Mosier was given a budget of $20 million to work with when he directed the film Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back in 2001.

As a result of the MPAA’s threat to give the movie an NC-17 rating, the editing process was challenging. In the movie, Mosier plays the role of an assistant director working on the set of the fictional sequel to Good Will Hunting. He also reprises the role of Willam Black, which he had previously played in the film Clerks. The budget for the movie Jersey Girl, which was directed by Mosier, was significantly higher than average, coming in at $35 million.

Due to the disappointing box office performance of Gigli, the studio wanted to remove a significant amount of footage featuring Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck from the film, which made the editing process more challenging. In 2006, Mosier produced the second installment of Clerks. Smith claimed that he was the one who edited the movie, which makes Clerks II one of three films that Mosier has produced with Smith but that Mosier has not edited (the others being Mallrats and Zack and Miri Make a Porno).

In his brief appearance, Mosier plays the role of a worried father who covers his daughter’s eyes to protect her from seeing a character sitting on a toilet. Bryan Johnson’s Vulgar, which was produced by Askew, featured Mosier in multiple roles, including executive producer, editor, and actor. In addition to his work as a co-executive producer on Good Will Hunting and Big Helium Dog, he also served as a producer on Drawing Flies, A Better Place, and Clerks: The Animated Series (together with Smith). In the film Drawing Flies, he played the role of the Crying Diaperman. In A Better Place, he played the role of Larry, and in Vulgar, he played the role of Scotty. Despite the fact that he didn’t record very many episodes in 2017, Mosier is a co-host on the SModcast podcast, which is produced by Smith and hosted on the SModcast.com website.
