Scottie Beam Bio, Life, and Career:

Deanie Andrea Scott, better known by her professional name, Scottie Beam, was born in the United States on October 3, 1990, and goes by the name Scottie Beam. She is a model and a media personality. Her time as a producer at Hot 97, where she worked for ten years, and her time as a former co-host on State of the Culture are the two roles for which she is best known. Both the Black Girl Podcast and Okay, Now Listen are podcasts that she presently helps to co-host. The Bronx, New York is where Deanii Scott spent her childhood and where she was born. Her mother, Shaila Scott, is a DJ at 107.5 WBLS and has been for many years. Scottie Beam started her career in radio by working for the street crew at KISS FM, and she later went to work at Hot 97.

She enrolled in Clark Atlanta University for a short time before withdrawing her enrollment and moving back to New York in order to pursue a career in music. After gaining experience as a digital producer at Columbia Records, Scottie went on to work at Hot 97, first for Angie Martinez and subsequently for Ebro in the Morning. After working at Hot 97 for eleven years, she eventually became a co-host on Revolt TV’s State of the Culture until leaving the station in 2019. She has modeled for companies such as Nike, Foot Locker, and The North Face at various points in her career. She has given speeches on topics such as colorism and other problems that affect black women.

She has posed for brands including Nike, Foot Locker, and The North Face among others in the past. She has discussed topics such as colorism and other problems that affect black women. In 2017, Scottie and four other staffers from Hot 97 (Rebecca “Bex” Francois, Sapphira Martin, Alysha Pamphile, and Gia Peppers) launched a podcast that Scottie would later co-host. The Black Girl Podcast discusses topics related to popular culture as well as concerns that are relevant to young working women. In July 2017, she shared a story on Twitter about how a security guard at Queen’s Knockdown Center had physically assaulted her. In 2019, she served as the host of the Rhythm + Flow: The Aftershow special on Netflix.

In 2017, Scottie began her role as a co-host of a podcast alongside four other women, all of whom had previously held positions at Hot 97. These ladies are Rebecca “Bex” Francois, Sapphira Martin, Alysha Pamphile, and Gia Peppers. The topics that are discussed on the Black Girl Podcast range from pop culture to concerns that are pertinent to young women entering the workforce. It was revealed in April of 2020 that Scottie will be co-hosting a podcast called Okay, Now Listen with BuzzFeed journalist Sylvia Obell. The podcast would be funded by Netflix’s Strong Black Lead project. The podcast is billed as two Black women “speaking openly about sex” and “belting out gospel” while maintaining a “firmly Black cultural frame of reference.”  Pineapple Street Studios is involved in the production of the podcast together with other people. Ebro in the Morning is a radio show on Hot 97, and Ebro is both the host and digital producer of the show. She has also worked as an online reporter, covering events in the music industry; she has presented online versions of BET’s Music Matters and Hot 97.

She looked up to radio presenter Ebro Darden as a father figure, and he provided her with career guidance. She has asserted that she only sleeps for a total of two hours each night. She has previously held the position of digital producer for the radio program “Ebro in the Morning,” which is hosted by Peter Rosenberg. Her mother, Shaila Scott, is a former radio personality who was employed by the sister station of Hot 97, WBLS. Beam started out in the radio industry as a part of the street team for KISS FM, and then she moved on to Hot 97.

She started out at Clark Atlanta University, but she eventually decided to pursue a career in music instead and moved back to New York City.
