Ted Shackelford Bio, Life and Career:

Theodore Tillman Shackelford III is a well-known American actor who is most known for his work on television. He was born on June 23, 1946. In the prime time soap operas Dallas and its spin-off Knots Landing (1979–1993) on CBS, he played the part of Gary Ewing.  He also had a recurring role portraying twin brothers William and Jeffrey Bardwell in the daytime serial opera The Young and the Restless (2006–2015) on CBS.

Shackelford spent his collegiate years at the University of Denver after being born in Oklahoma City, which is also in Oklahoma. Between the years 1975 and 1977, he was a regular cast member on the daytime soap opera Another World, playing the part of Ray Gordon. After that, he made guest appearances on the prime time shows Wonder Woman and The Rockford Files before being cast as Gary Ewing in the 1979 season of the prime time serial opera Dallas on CBS.

Gary Ewing was the middle son of oil baron Jock and Miss Ellie Ewing, the father of Lucy Ewing, and the husband of Valene Ewing. beyond his turn as the character in 1978, actor David Ackroyd was cast in the role initially; however, he was unable to reprise the part for subsequent appearances beyond that year. Later in his career, Shackelford rose to prominence as a prominent cast member on the long-running television series Knots Landing, which aired on CBS from 1979 through 1993. After that, he had a role in the miniseries Knots Landing: Back to the Cul-de-Sac, which aired in 1997.

Shackelford made his debut on the big screen in the adventure thriller Sweet Revenge, which he starred in alongside Nancy Allen in the year 1987. During his time on Knots Landing, he appeared as a guest star on a number of other television shows, including Soap, Hotel, Alfred Hitchcock Presents, The Twilight Zone, and The Young Riders. Baby of the Bride (1991), Mother of the Bride (1993), Dying to Remember (1993), Sweet Temptation (1996), and Stolen Women: Captured Hearts (1997) were all made-for-television movies in which he had starring roles. Shackelford had a starring role in the British science-fiction television series Space Precinct from 1994 till 1995.

He had a recurrent part in the prime time soap opera Savannah, which aired on The WB in 1996, and in the years that followed, he starred on shows such as Cybill, The Outer Limits, The Practice, and Dirty Sexy Money. Shackelford started playing the role of William Bardwell, district attorney of Genoa City, on the daytime soap opera The Young and the Restless on February 2, 2006, after joining the cast the same day.

His character, William Bardwell, passed away from complications brought on by a stroke on the 18th of July, 2007, marking his final appearance on the popular soap opera in that role. On the other hand, Shackelford made his comeback to the show on August 7, 2007, playing the role of Jeffrey Bardwell, Bardwell’s identical twin brother. In 2013, Shackelford returned to the character of Gary Ewing for three episodes that aired on TNT during the second season of the Dallas television series.
