The D.O.C. Bio, Life, and Career:

Tracy Lynn Curry, best known by his stage name The D.O.C., is a rapper, songwriter, and record producer from the United States. He was born on June 10, 1968. In addition to pursuing a career as a solo artist, he was a member of the Southern hip-hop group Fila Fresh Crew. He later worked with the gangsta rap group N.W.A., contributing to many of their albums as a co-writer, and he also contributed to Eazy-E’s debut album as a solo artist, titled Eazy-Duz-It.

Additionally, he has collaborated with Dr. Dre, with whom he wrote and produced Dre’s solo debut album, as well as Curry’s solo debut album, which was distributed by Ruthless Records. Along with Dr. Dre and Suge Knight, he was one of the original founders of the record label Death Row Records. Following the dissolution of the group Fila Fresh Crew in 1988, the D.O.C. embarked on a highly successful solo career. 1989 saw the release of his debut album, titled No One Can Do It Better.

The album spent two weeks atop the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart in the United States and was responsible for two number-one hits on the Hot Rap Songs list, namely “It’s Funky Enough” and “The D.O.C. & The Doctor.” Five years after the album’s initial release, it was certified platinum. The D.O.C. was in a major car accident in the latter half of 1989, just a few months after the release of No One Can Do It Better.

This accident caused a permanent change in his voice. Since the incident, he has issued two more albums, Helter Skelter in 1996 and Deuce in 2003. Both of these albums were released after the event. In 2015, he stated that he had completely regained the use of his voice. Tracy Lynn Curry’s birthday is June 10th, and she was born in Dallas, Texas, in 1968.

When Curry was a teenager, he became a member of the Dallas, Texas-based hip-hop group Fila Fresh Crew, which was one of the groups that launched his career. During his time with the band, Curry became known as Doc-T. Four songs by Fila Fresh Crew were included on the compilation album N.W.A and the Posse, which was released in 1987 and featured a variety of other artists. The same four songs were then included on the group’s album Tuffest Man Alive, which was released the following year in 1988.

The trio broke up not long after the publication of the album, despite the fact that it would go on to create three singles. At this point, Curry had already relocated to Los Angeles and had begun to build relationships with members of N.W.A. and Ruthless Records.

After being recruited by Eazy-E for his Ruthless Records label, Curry would start performing under the moniker the D.O.C. Straight Outta Compton was the first studio album released by N.W.A. The D.O.C. provided lyrics to the album and also delivered the opening verse on the song “Parental Discretion Iz Advised.” In addition, Curry contributed to the first studio album released by Eazy-E, named Eazy-Duz-It, and he co-wrote the song “Keep Watchin'” that appeared on Michel’le’s debut album, which was simply titled Michel’le.

The D.O.C. made his debut as a solo artist in 1989 with the release of No One Can Do It Better, which was produced by Dr. Dre. The album garnered highly positive reviews from the media and did very well commercially, reaching its highest position on the Billboard 200 chart for two weeks in a row (peaking at no. 20), and it was certified platinum in 1994. The album has been deemed “an early landmark of West Coast Rap” as well as “an undeniable masterpiece” by Allmusic, which has awarded it a rating of five stars out of a possible five. There were a total of five singles and five music videos created by No One Can Do It Better.

Curry was almost killed in an automobile accident that took place in November 1989, five months after the publication of the album titled “No One Can Do It Better.” While he was on his way home from a party, he slept off behind the wheel, which caused his vehicle to drift off the highway. Curry, who had neglected to fasten his seat belt, was flung out of the back window of the vehicle and struck a tree with his face first. Due to the extent of his injuries, he underwent 21 hours of plastic surgery and was hospitalized for two and a half weeks.

He was unable to talk for approximately a month, and when he finally did, he had a different voice that was raspier. Curry claimed in an interview he gave to DJ Vlad in 2015 that he was under the influence of alcohol and cannabis at the time of the accident, and that he had been stopped over prior to the collision but that the police had let him go.

The D.O.C. continued to compose for NWA and supplied lyrics and minor vocals to their 1990 EP 100 Miles and Runnin’. He co-wrote all of the songs on the EP with the exception of “Just Don’t Bite It” and “Kamurshol,” and he also co-wrote all of the songs on their last album Niggaz4Life.
