There, a choreographer took note of him and arranged for him to audition for a role in Billy Elliot the Musical at the Victoria Palace Theatre in London. Holland was cast in the role of Billy Elliot.
After two years of preparation, he landed a position in a supporting cast in 2008, and the following year, he was promoted to the lead role, which he continued to play until 2010. Holland made his debut in the film industry with the movie The Impossible (2012), playing the role of a teenage tourist who becomes trapped in a tsunami. For this performance, Holland earned plaudits.
After this, Holland made the decision to pursue a career in acting on a full-time basis. Since then, she has acted in the film How I Live Now (2013), the film In the Heart of the Sea (2015), and the miniseries Wolf Hall (2015), both of which portray historical individuals. Thomas Stanley Holland was born on June 1st, 1996 in Kingston upon Thames, which is located in southwest London. His parents, Nicola (née Frost), who is a photographer, and Dominic Holland, who is a comedian and novelist, welcomed their son into the world there.
There are three brothers who are younger than he is. His maternal grandmother was Irish and was from the county of Tipperary. He has a home in Kingston upon Thames, close to where his parents and younger brothers all have a residence. Due to the fact that both of his parents work in creative fields, he gets a lot of ideas from them; he looks up to his father and considers him a role model; due to his years of expertise in the field, he has informally served as his manager.
Donhead, a Catholic all-boys preparatory school located in Wimbledon, is where Holland received his education. Wimbledon is located in southwest London. At the age of seven, he was evaluated and given a diagnosis of dyslexia. In order for him to receive the appropriate attention, his parents enrolled him and his brothers in a private school. This was done so that his brothers would not feel neglected. Despite the fact that Holland enjoyed his new school, this began to put a financial strain on his family.
Holland received his primary education at Wimbledon College, a Jesuit comprehensive school, and then went on to complete his secondary education at the BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology in Croydon. Holland started dancing when he was nine years old in a hip-hop lesson at Nifty Feet Dance School in Wimbledon. He danced with his school group at the 2006 Richmond Dance Festival while he was a student there.
There, he was discovered by Lynne Page, who is also a choreographer and works as an associate for Peter Darling, who is the choreographer of the musical Billy Elliot. Page was responsible for arranging an audition for Holland, and when Stephen Daldry, the director of the musical, saw him perform, he said that Holland “had great potential and was a very natural actor.
After two years of training in ballet, tap dance, and acrobatics, Holland landed the role of Michael Caffrey, the protagonist’s best friend, and made his debut performance at the Victoria Palace Theatre in the West End in June 2008. Caffrey is the best friend of the protagonist. Caffrey is the best friend of the protagonist. While participating in the musical, Holland took gymnastics classes to prepare for his roles. According to Holland, after his classmates at school learned about his dance activities, they began picking on him and making fun of him.
Later on in the year 2008, both Holland and his co-star Tanner Pflueger were given the opportunity to perform in the musical’s lead part. On the first day he played Elliot, Holland had tonsillitis; yet, he decided to perform on stage anyhow and received excellent remarks; the following day, he went to the doctor.
As a result of his success on stage, Holland had high hopes that he would become well-liked at school and that his peers would stop picking on him. However, as a result of being exposed to a professional setting, he matured at an earlier age than his contemporaries and had difficulty fitting in. As a direct consequence of this, his grades on the General Certificate of Secondary Education dropped.
Following the conclusion of his work on Billy Elliot the Musical in 2010, Tom Holland provided the voice for a character in the British dub of the Japanese animated fantasy film Arrietty (2011), and he also submitted an audition tape to J.A. Bayona for a part in The Impossible (2012). After that, Bayona organized a meeting and had Holland write a letter to his mother and then recite it as an audition. Bayona was impressed with Holland’s performance. Bayona decided to cast Holland in the role after being moved by the actor’s emotive delivery.
